Week & a half update

Let’s see…So I didn’t quite make it for the Thursday update.
That is due to the fact that I spent all of Thursday night writing utter rubbish, and even had to finish the utter rubbish the next morning. [My first paper for World Lit. It was suppose to be 1600-1800 words, 5 pages…It ended up 4 ½ pages…1400 or so words. The last page of it was utter B.S. BUT…As the professor is not only an English professor, but a Philosophy professor as well…I’m hoping to does something for me.]

Wednesday. Ug. My presentation for Storytelling. *falls over*
I thought I had it…Thought I would manage it…Thought I could do it…Yeah…Was a bit derailed, and hoping that is what caused me to be as big of a mess as I was. Although, what was said afterwards was all nice stuff…The only problem was that it was too fast…I was in panic mode. Hopefully I can slow it down next time. [Which I might not be able too, over panic that I don’t know my story! Ahhhhh!]

Thing of it is…I was scheduled to be the last one up, my choice…I like last when it comes to presentations…I talked myself through my story on the drive from NMC to Grand Valley…I was paced, the length was good…I had the story down.
First story was…Um…Heck, I don’t even remember…Oh yeah…A creation story of how the world came to be…Not a bad one…Can’t remember the woman’s name.
Matt did “The Little Match Girl”…& did an excellent job. [Our professor was surprised by a guy tackling the story…But like I said, he did an excellent job.] & I very nearly cried…I was tearing up.
Next was Trica…She was on her second story…She decided to tell a personal type story. She talked about her grandparents…I was all find and good until she was talking about her grandmother, and mentioned that her grandmother had lost a baby…Yeah…That was the end of my stability. I’m not sure why, but it hit HARD. It was all I could do to sit through the rest of the story, through the class critiques and make it to break.
In the bathroom during break, I fell apart. It was all I could do to pull myself back together to go back to class…Really, I’m not sure how I did. I had to keep banishing the thoughts while I was listening to the 4th story of the evening and getting ready to do mine.

But yeah…Got up, spread out my props…And sped through my story. *laughs*
If nothing else…I am Queen of props! I had Buddy, Tenchie (sp), Charlie, & Whatever-Verde (Tenchie, Charlie, and Verde being Sonja’s skeleton crew…Charlie is covered in silver glitter and Verde in green glitter.) I wore the dress Mum wore to the one SCA event a few years back, and the long red wig.
Figured being as the story was Bluebeard, me having blue hair would detract from it a bit. *laughs*

My next story is due a week from Wednesday…I’m just hoping I can manage to get it in my head, and be able to slow it down to a non-breakneck speed.

Other school related news:
A week from tomorrow I have my second math test of the semester. I need to get my portfolio done. I’m not sure how I’m feeling about the actual math work. It depends on the particular moment I think. All that matters is that I pass this stupid class…Then I shall be done with math all together! Yay!

For next week I have to read the second half of Dracula for ENG 216, and the second half of Things Fall Apart for World Lit. [Which pretty much means…Mon-Sat, any ‘free time’, best go towards reading Dracula, and I’ll force my way through the last half of Things Fall Apart next Sunday.]

& I think that is pretty much were school stands.

Critter’s don’t have school tomorrow…But there isn’t room to put them anywhere during my English class, so they are going to be staying home. Sonja gets to play babysitter…It’s only for a little bit, between when I leave & Mum gets home.
Harley says he is going to be on his best behavior for his sister. Let’s hope so.

*stares @ the boxes of chocolate from the celebrating of National 50% off Chocolate Day*
OMGs…As much as I want chocolate…I do not want what is in those boxes. *cries* Utter evilness, I swear…I have been cursed! *falls over*

Wednesday night I got home from school & Mum informed me I had a box, and that it wasn’t something that I had ordered because of the name it was addressed to. [Any package I get from Wasil is addressed to ‘Baby Girl’.]
It was an unexpected Valentine! *blinkies* I didn’t expect anything, and he hadn’t said anything about getting me anything. He didn’t last year…*pokes @ him*  It was a box of most yummiful chocolates…Boy has expensive tastes…& they were soooooooo good.

Okay…It’s getting close to me needing to get some sleep.

You don’t address things you order yourself to “Baby Girl?” how odd. lol. Postal workers must have fun reading names sometimes.

You can practice your story once you got it. I remember when I had speach class I had the same problem. I have to write in my hards to slow down, and gave myself like “pause here” and such. It helped me i’m sure you can find someting that would help you too. Was the chocolate yummy?

Awwww… nice surprise from Wasil! Mmmmm… Chocolate… yeah ‘sinful’ is how it is described in ‘Ever After’ LOL Sorry you ‘lost it’ in Storytelling – sounds like that girl’s story about her grandma losing a baby *really* derailed you and your mental prep for your ‘performance.’ Hopefully next time there will be no such derailment and your story will go off without a hitch. Can you please read this [rather long] FO entry and give me some feedback? http://www.opendiary.com/entryview.asp?authorcode=D718154&entry=10815&mode=date
