So this is College…Or something.

Okay…Let me try and relive the last week…

Monday was my first day of classes…Monday also happens to be my longest day of the week.

Introduction to Psychology.
My teacher wasn’t who he was suppose to be…Somewhere along they changed instructors on me. o.O Meanies!
The one I have now hasn’t taught Psychology in years he said. *falls over* Then again, he’s pretty much having the class teach each other. We were pre-assigned to groups, and each group is suppose to ‘teach’ an assigned chapter to the rest of the class. My groups consists of Justin, who asks too many bloody questions, and Eric, who seems a bit of a slacker. *shrugs*
*looks up professor on ratemyprofessor.com*
He was previously the Economics teacher…And out of the 5 people who rated him, none liked him, all said he was a hard grader…Well the one just said "This man is NOT a teacher!"…Fun. [Though so far he hasn’t seem to terribly evil.]

We have to write 1/2 page journal entries on certainly assigned days…Then turn them in…Then he is going to randomly read them in class (though not telling who the writer of said entries are). Then we have to write a short paper on what we learned, and how we benefited from the assignment. This being worth 300 points out of 1000.
We’re going to have 14 quizzes, worth a total of 500 points.
The ‘Team Project’ of teaching the chapter is worth 200 points.

Got out of class half an hour early, as my group didn’t want to give much thought to our teaching of the chapter at that point. So I had two hours and 20 minutes of time to kill before my next class (as opposed to the usual hour and 50 minutes I’ll be having on a regular basis…Plus once we get done teaching out chapter, we can leave after the quizzes, when it’s ‘team work’ time, as we’ll have nothing to do).

Went to the mall and got lunch/dinner…Got back, couldn’t find a parking place in the parking lot where I had been before…Had to park in the middle of nowhere…Not fun when I had to walk back to car after 9:30 at night. [Though I have discovered a back parking lot that is right next to where I get out on Monday nights.]

Plant Biology
Got to class…Only to discover that…My teacher is not the teacher I was suppose to have! *falls over*
He only has one rating…It is a good one…He seems fairly nice. *shrugs* [Which is better than the not so nice things they have to say about the woman whose suppose to be teaching it…And who will be return half-way through the semester…Blah.]
I need to find a jar with a wide mouth opening. We’re going to plant ferns! [Okay, yeah…The lab part is going to be what I like.]
First assignment(s) were to get onto Moodle (the new ‘Blackboard’ for e-learning stuff), and edit our profile. I put the picture of me that I have on Raven’s diary in place. Other than that…Haven’t said much there. (&) Fill out this ‘Getting to know you’ thing. It had three questions that you had to answer…Did that, it was easy enough.

We have to have groups to do some project…Which I’m not sure about.
I also have to do a presentation, where I have to stand up and talk for six minutes. Someone…PLEASE shoot me! [I failed Junior English in high school because I refused to get in front of the class and give a speech…And there were only about a dozen kids in that class…Unlike, oh say, the 30 or 40 in Plant Bio.! *falls over & dies*]

Anyway…In the lab part we got to go into the green house and start baby plants! *grins* [Yesh, the fun stuff for me.] I started a African Violet, a Spider Plant, and a…um…something…Didn’t overly care for that plant as much…So it’s slipped my mind. *laughs*]

Okay…That takes us to Tuesday…

English
Okay…Amazingly enough…My teacher is the teacher I was suppose to have. It’s a miracle! *laughs*
Now…Not going to have essays in the traditional sense for the most part it seems…Bloody hell…I was ready for that…Give me a topic, I’ll babble about it. But, that’s not what he wants. He wants us to actually think…Oh Gods no…I’m not ready to think. *falls over*
First off…I need to figure out what MLA guideline thingys are…As that is what we have to go by…
There is going to be 4 Formal Projects, and a Final Exam…And odds and ends of things (Readings and Quizzes, and Group Class Discussions, or something).
Final Project One: Writing and Self-Reflection…Suppose to take an ordinary moment, and look closer at it, finding remarkable things and communicating them into writings that others can find beneficial…Or something like that (Yeah…I’m so understanding this…).
Anyway…Said project has prewriting…Which I have a load of rubbish (Starting with me stuffing Barty in a box)…Anyway, it’s freewriting, drawings, rough notes, lists, diagrams, outlines, ect. Whatever really.
From that I have to make a Rough Draft…Which is due Thursday! Two-pages, of attempting to ‘dig’ for meaning during the ‘analytical’ stage of writing.

Then I need a Polished Draft…Four to Six pages long, following the MLA guidelines, and that fulfills the requirements of a reflective essay.
Then…A Reflective Essay, one and a half to two pages long, in MLA style (again), that explains the process you experienced as you worked on the project…Including difficulties and successes at each stage. And what you think you gained from the efforts, and what the audience might get from them….And blah, blah, blah.
Here is me, screaming help…HELP!!!!

But…The teacher seems nice enough…Despite sounding like William Shatner the first couple minutes of class each day thus far.
[I also have a take home quiz I haven’t done yet either…Due Tuesday.]

Beginning Algebra
So far…Not too bad, as we are doing really basic stuff, and fractions, which I’m not too bad at. [Though I’m sure that is bound to change as the semester goes on.]
Class is going to have 4 exams, and a final exam.

I’ve almost learned to play nice with my calculator.

On a happier note…At least I have scenery to look at…And as it’s the teacher, I shouldn’t have too much attention paying attention in class. *laughs* Jim (as he us to call him that instead of Mr. Nelson or whatever), bares a striking resemblance to a young(er) Gary Oldman. *does best job to contain self* Though, I have found myself sitting in the front row both days of class thus far. *laughs* Still…I need to learn the stuff that I don’t know…So it’s a very good place to be. *nods* Yesh.

Anyways…I think that pretty much sums up college thus far…I still haven’t done my Psych or English homework yet…Plus I need to figure out Raven’s timetable…Though I have it narrowed down to having five classes for this year. Just need to set the days and times. I’m sure the four will be obvious, then I’m taking one, not so obvious class…Something to kill time, and brain cells I guess. *laughs* Though avoiding Muggle Studies (as Coleridge Black is still professor…And Animagus doesn’t need Transfiguration or Charms -As Charms is

just mini-trangsfig. really.-) So…Raven’s classes…*drum roll*…Potions (a given), Herbology (should be another given), Defense Against the Dark Arts (Go Professor Snape!), Care for Magical Creatures (Hagrid needs someone he can count on to take his class…As some people aren’t considerate enough…*kicks the Trio*)…And…Divination (yeah…I hear the voices saying ‘What? Why? *laughs*…But I wanted a laze class…Sucks that it’s Trelawny and note Firenze for 6th years…But that’s what makes it a laze class. *laughs*). So I have to go set days and times for those.

And Peter is back where he belongs…Playing pet…Though he does have other obligations he has to attend to…Like keeping Olivander in one piece…So he will have to be going to Riddle House on more occasion this year…Which is where Orinda will come in on occasion. *kicks the psycho*

I think that is it for the moment…Though I do have a Psych 1/2 page journal entry I have to write on the 3rd. Blah. *skips off*

Random Noter: Don’t you love how little high school prepares you for college. I was lucky enough to have an English teacher in 10th grade who was all about MLA format, but a lot of people were blinking in confusion, “What?” I’ve got a good one for ya – I took advanced calc. my freshman year. The teacher would go over the homework at the start of class and more often than not would have to consult with some of the better students to make sure she was doing the problem correctly. She quite often came to the wrong answer. I stopped showing up after a few classes and still managed an A.

That’s what I like about test days; we can leave the class after finishing the test. All of my classes thus far for the last year and a half have been like that. Sounds like things are going pretty good for the most part, despite all the evil homework already & presentations in front of the class. *shudders* *lol* I’m surprised that I managed to do so well with my Death Eater project, but c’mon…it’s Harry Potter – my life & passion! O.o! Thanks for reminding me…I must figure out Raya’s timetable, too. *nods* Yay for Peter coming back and being where he’s supposed to be! *beats on Orinda* Scarily insane woman that she is. *beats on Coleridge, too* While I’m at it. Hehe. Good luck with all your homework. Blah. *hugs*

It dosn’t seem too band and what the hell is up with that teacher suituation????? Jeeze! lol MLA isn’t all the bad it best for to look at as refrence. I find it little annoying at times. Blah Good luck with the wiring Just keep up with that and everything else would go smooth. the Phsyc. Teacher seems like he not going to teach anything. *srugs* what do i know… *hugs*

mla format should be easily found online or in a book at your library at college. i had to teach that at school… *laughs* but i had a book that told us exactly what it was…. a lot of writing programs have it in there… *hugs you* wooHOOO for cute professors. *smiles*

glad they’re keeping you busy then! Lots of homework there, am very impressed with it all… Is that what Uni is for us? *frowns* Still, you havent curled up into a ball or jumped into Moody’s trunk yet, so I figure you’re succeeding. Only a cry of “help” but we can iron that over *huggles* lots of interesting teachers too!… Weird ones… they’ll be what you remember later, not the info 😀

Aww man.. why couldn’t we have started with fractions in my algebra class! We started with radicals and exponents… exponents not so bad… radicals on the other hand. *dies* Yay for finding a close parking lot though!! It’s nice being able to leave class right after tests/quizzes, etc… though.
