Near Christmas
Christmas was fast approaching, and as such, Grimmauld Place’s three Hogwart’s professors were back at home full time. Unable to sleep, Raven stood at the kitchen counter, willing the minutes to pass so she could drink her tea. The sound of footsteps echoed through the silent house, pausing as someone stood in the doorway. Turning twords the door the witch took notice of the man in the doorway, quickly refocusing her attention to the teacup before her. “Going to ignore me doll?”
“I’m not ignoring you Sirius.” Raven returned, fishing the teabag from her cup.
“Aren’t you?” Raven didn’t answer. A moment later she felt a presense behind her. “Aren’t you doll?” Sirius’s breath caressed the skin on the back of her neck.
Turning around to face him, she was taken aback by just how close he really was. “Sirius,” Raven paused, attempting to collect her thoughts. “I’m not ignoring you.” His grey eyes were looking intently down into hers.
“I’ve been feeling ignored.” Reaching up, Sirius’s hand came to rest on her cheek.
“Sirius, please.”
“Please what?” His other hand coming to rest on the other side of her face.
A small pout-like frown formed on the witches lips, her blue eyes shined with something unnamed. “I’m with Severus.”
Not letting her look away, Sirius continued to keep his eyes on hers. “He’s not here now, is he?”
“You know he’s not.” Raven returned. “He can’t be.”
“Are you really content to live such a life?” Raven nodded in response. “I don’t think you are. I can see it in your eyes.”
Raven attempted to look away, but the man’s hands held her in place, as he leaned closer. “Sirius.” A moment later his lips were on hers, dropping his hands to her waist, Sirius pulled Raven even closer to him. “No,” the witch broke free from his embrace, “we can’t do this. Not anymore.” Tears glistened in her colbolt eyes as she looked back at him from where she now stood. “I’m marrying Severus in less than two months.”
“So you’re really going to go through with it?”
“Yes, I am.”
Sirius shook his head slightly, “and then what? Huh? Going to go on the run with him?” He crossed the room to stand before her again. “Take my son and go into hiding?”
“No,” Raven began, “of course not.” A sigh escaped her. “After the ceremony, Severus will have to go back into hiding…and I’ll…I’ll come back here.”
A smirk crossed the man’s lips. “That’ll make for a fun honeymoon, I’m sure.” Frowning, Raven turned away from him, her hands coming to rest of the table. “Then again,” Sirius was behind her once more, one arm snaked around her waist, the other slid up beside her coming back up to rest on her shoulder. “I could always…” His mouth came to her neck, kissing it gently.
“Sirius,” Raven turned around to face him, she could feel the blood rushing through her veins. “Please, don’t do this.”
His arms still around her, Sirius pulled Raven closer to him, causing her breath to falter. “Why? Because you know you want this as much as I do?”
“That doesn’t matter.” Raven frowned, “I mean, that’s not…”
“No, you meant it,” Sirius returned, “even if you don’t want to admit it.” Reaching up, he brushed a lock of purple hair from the girl’s face. “What does Severus have that I don’t?”
Scowling, Raven pushed the man away from her, “me.” Her tea forgotten, she headed for the doorway.
“He doesn’t deserve you.” Sirius called after her, causing her to pause, turning aroung to look at him. “
“He loves me.”
A contemplative look overtook Sirius. Raven raised an eyebrow as if to say ‘what?’ “I…” His grey eyes looked into her blue one’s intently a moment before he shook his head. “I’m sorrry doll. I was…” a sigh rushed past his lips, “I was out of line.”
Without a word, Raven turned around and headed back to her and Raya’s room. Hand resting on the door knob she rested her head on the door, her eyes flickering up to the next landing for a brief moment, as she whispered, “I’m sorry too.”
