Journal Exercise: A Letter to Myself:
This week, write a letter to yourself begging, cajoling, or demanding that you elude your writing robbers (as if they are actually thieves stealing your writing time) and become the writer you were meant to be.
Dear Raven,
I beg you do not let the little things steal your time away from your writing. Do not let the evil presence of sleep drag you contiunously into it’s grasp. Yes, it’s needed, but don’t let it take control of you, and hold you prisoner. It’s you that should be in control of it. When you awake, stay awake, don’t let Sleep drag you back into it’s grasp, smothering your mind to the waking world, and stealing away time you could use writing.
I beg you do not let the little things steal your time away from your writing. Don’t let the need of cooking the meal take you from writing. Take a pen and paper with you, there is no reason for you to set it aside while Cooking steals away your time. I beg of you keep working with every little minute you can put into it. Cooking can hold a second here or there to get a thought out. One minute won’t hurt the food, it’ll still be able to be eaten.
I beg you do not let the little things steal your time away from your writing. I plead with you, get a tape recorder or some sort of other recording device so as you can speak what you’d otherwise write while Driving. Do not let the need for going from place to place get in the way of your need to write…because you do need to write. It is what you are meant to do, and you must not let such things stand in your way.
I beg you do not let the little things steal your time away from your writing. Yes, you need to go places, and into stores, and gather the necessities of life. But paper and pen travels, do not let Shopping steals your thoughts, and take away your writing time. Your words are always flowing in your head, let them flow on to the paper as well. Write when you can, take every oppertunity.
Do not let the little things steal your precious moments, your writings needed time. I beg you do not let the little things steal your time away from your writing. Do not let Sleep keep you from the waking, writing world. Do not let Cooking keep you from taking precious notes. Do not let Driving steal your thoughts…think them, and hold on to them any way you can. Do not let Shopping keep you from letting your words flow when they come to you. I beg you do not let the little things steal your time away from your writing.
Please, take these words to heart, I beg you.
~You

And a piece of poetry for the masses…
I Never November 2, 1997
I never boasted perfection
that’s what you chose to see
You should’ve took the time
to really look at me
I never claimed righteousness
or even to be good
You should’ve realizied that
I did the best I could
I never demanded attentiveness
you were eager to give
You shoud’ve understood
I had my life to live
Omg…I need to do that for myself. *goes to write*

Good letter. *nods* Now, keep to it! Heh. But don’t forget that there’s life out there, which I’m determined to drag you into! I will not let you hide behind your writing! No excuses. *laughs* ~

Stephen King’s On Writing. He says practice, practice, practice. Set aside a part of every day to practice. Do it 7 days a week. I like your poem. 🙂 Be well.

That letter was good. I hate when I think about something at work but before I can get home to write it .. I’ll forget the best details. *sigh*
