Journal Exercise: Day Three:

Find a quotation or statement that you like. Journal about what this quotation or statement means to you.

*shakes head* And I was worried about this one? *bangs head on desk* I went to look for a quote for this…I ended up with a long list of them…Now…to narrow it down. *laughs*

Quote #1

Writing gives you the illusion of control, and then you realize it’s just an illusion, that people are going to bring their own stuff into it.
(As my computer was acting up in the copy and paste process…I managed to lose the name of the person who said this.)

When you start to write something, you have in mind what you meant, and what you meant to happen. But when it comes down to it, you can’t control what others are going to think, and see when they read what you’ve written. It maybe what you meant, or it could be something totally diffrent. What’s great about writing with friends, is they can take the idea you show them, twist it around, toss it back to you and say, ‘Hey, this looks pretty interesting too’. And sometimes…they’re right. It can put a whole new spin on an idea that you thought that you had all figured out, and even make it better.

Quote #2

It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.
-Confucius

I’ve really got to remeber this. I tend to start things with great gusto, and then as it wanes, I begin to wonder what I think I’m doing…then tend to give up, and stop. I just have to keep and mind and remeber, as long as I keep going, even if it’s not at the pace I started with, I am still going. And as long as I’m going, I’m doing something.

Quote #3

Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we oft might win by fearing to attempt.
-William Shakespeare

I tend to have a lot of doubt. I am, after all, my own worst critic. And having such doubts, I more often than not, and more often than I should, let them get the better of me. When I do this, I stop trying, and attempting to do what I was doing, and in doing so, I’m sure I’ve lost out on a lot of things. Hopefully, now that I’ve realized this, I can do something to change that pattern.

Quote #4

Family isn’t about whose blood you have. It’s about who you care about.
– Trey Parker and Matt Stone (South Park)

*has to resist the urge to fall over laughing as I’m now taking quotes from South Park* But in this instance…It makes a point I think we’ve tried to make, repeatedly, in roleplay.

In roleplay we have, what has got to be, one of the strangest families in all exsistence. But in all honesty, I can’t think of a better one. Despite their diffrences, their desires, and all the things that makes a person a person, this group has managed to find one another, and form a loving bond that could rival any family that was born. It’s been repeatedly said, that although we are not blood, we are a family. The depth of our love for each other is amazing, and although we have our rough spots, where one wonders if your love is going to be enough to pull us through…Something always happens to serve as a reminder that our love is much more important than anything else, even our dislikes of some of the things we do, or the people we chose to associate with. (Even though Uncle Remus tends to be so bloody stubborn on occasion. *laughs*).

Aside from roleplay…I’ve come to see this as a truth as well. I’ve got, one of the greatest families I could ever have…and most of them don’t share the same blood as me either. I’ve got people who will stand beside me no matter what, even if they may not wholeheartedly agree with me, they will do their best to do what they can to support me, and show me how much they love me and care.

And time for some not so random blather…well sort of not random (still quote stuff)

I got rid of some quotes…which I should of probably haven’t done, as I’m doing this now…but I still have these ones.

These ones go well with my take an reality (Gods….reality and the real world are such evil things *laughs*)…

Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.
-Albert Einstein

I believe in looking reality straight in the eye and denying it.
-Garrison Keillor

Reality is nothing but a collective hunch.
– Jane Wagner

Reality is the leading cause of stress amongst those in touch with it.
– Jane Wagner

And some realating to life…

Not a shred of evidence exists in favor of the idea that life is serious.
– Brendan Gill

The purpose of life is to fight maturity.
– Dick Werthimer

And one for our Smut Lord *laughs*….

Seduction isn’t making someone do what they don’t want to do. Secuction is enticing someone into doing what they secretly want to do already.
– Waiter Rant

And a couple more quotes here…These three being from Tom Stoppard

If an idea’s worth having once, it’s worth having twice.

I think age is a very high price to pay for maturity.

I write plays because writing dialogue is the only respectable way of contradictin yourself. I’m the kind of person who embarks on an endless leapfrog.

Tom Stoppard for those of you who may be wondering (and even those who aren’t. *laughs*), is the writer of the play Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead. As well as turning it into a screenplay for the movie and directing it. He is also the co-writer of Shakespeare in Love (which I’m sure many more people have heard of than Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead). And I think he might be my hero. *falls over laughing* Sorry…I’m in such a mood. Though I do believe tonights ‘real’ entry is going to go into the quote world as well, as I have been wanting to put up some quotes from Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead for ages now (but as they are very long pieces, I didn’t think it would fit here…though I suppose it could of. *shrugs*)

And I would hate to send you all away without a poem, as I think you’re getting use to them. *laughs* (I’ll give you two, they’re small)

Of Tauren Moldorm         Sept. 8, 1994
Through hate and fears
                and dragon tears
her heart and soul were formed

Strong and agile
             and a little fragile
through them her heart was warmed

Brave and true
           and sometimes blue
       there’s still no better fr

iend

Through peace and war
             and so much more
her heart they helped to mend

Dark Heart               Dec. 1996
Black as coal
    Cold as ice
        Ignore the pain
            Of the knifes first slice

No light gets in
    No light gets out
        Thunderous the war cry
            Hideous the shout

There is no pain
    There is no feeling
        Away at the layers
            They keep peeling

There is no fear
    There is no strife
        The only respect
            For the sharpest knife

Very good quotes! A lot of them I can definitely feel on a personal level. I loveee those poems! Possibly my favorite I’ve seen, thus far. And, if I may say so, I write a lot like you. I can’t say it the other way around, as you’ve written these before I wrote my poems. *laughs* But the depth and content of each reminds me of some I have, as well. Very good! ~

they are good quotes.

RYN:*hugs*
