Journal Exercise: Day One:
How do you perceive yourself as a writer? What makes you a writer? What are your goals as a writer?
I feel as if I’m on the beginning of my writing journey. I’m taking something I’ve always seemed to do, and enjoy, and now I’m going to attempt to focus on it as something other than my usual escape.
I am a writer, because I write. I’ll be the first to admit that some of my stuff is utter rubbish. I’ll admit that I believe some of my stuff is rubbish when others don’t. And there is some of my stuff I absolutely love…and others might think it’s rubbish. *laughs* I also know that there are those who read my stuff and enjoy it immensly ( I love you people *laughs*).
My goals…I’ve never been good with goals, but here I go anyway.
I do, as I actually have for a while, want to be able to say, ‘I’m a published writer’. Granted, I have had a poem published in one of those anthologies from poety.com, or whatever it is. But let’s be honest, they’ll publish ANYTHING. *laughs*
Seriously though…I would like to see at least a short story, if not a full out novel, in print. And perhaps, a collection of my poems….Though I’m thinking a lot of them still need some work. *wonders if I should put up a chapter with some of them in it*
A little story (because it’s my entry, and I can imporvise the content of the subject if I want to). Okay maybe not so much of a story, as just some information…or something. *laughs*
I have actually been writing for quite a while. I use to draw and write my own little comics, something about ‘Super Bunny’ I was a child…don’t laugh too hard. *laughs* In 5th grade, our teacher gave us an option. We could either read, and do the traditional book report…or…we could write our own short stories. I opted to write my own stories. I actually still have them around here…somewhere. *laughs* I can remeber three I did for class, and I know I’ve got two more other than those.
Then in one class, in either 6th or 7th grade (I can’t remeber which now), our one assignment was to write a poem. The teacher actually liked mine so much that he showed it to other teachers, and read it before the class. *pokes at poem* And I didn’t even think it was that good. *laughs* Hey, what the heck…While I’m here…and the spiral full of my poems is right here….Why not. Just keep in mind…I was only like 11 or 12 when I wrote it.
No Sunshine (1987)
Nay no sunshine shall shine
Nor shall the new moon rise
For the creature who gaurds them
Will not get up now, he just lies
He won’t share his golden glow
And his blueness of the moon
Though he care not us be well
We shall, and are, all in doom
We can not fight him
He is too large
He is as big as a house
Nay a barge
We shall never see the sun
Nor shall we ever see the lunar glow
No matter what we say
He will never go
awsome peom.

It’s awesome! Really. And I know about the poetry.com thing, ’cause I had a poem that is complete shit published in one of their anthologies. I can’t write poetry. Short-stories, essays, and novels, yes, but poetry stumps me. ~

I’ve been writing poetry since I was in 8th grade…omitting these past couple years, however, as I seemingly cant write poetry anymore. *pouts* But I’m hoping to be able to pursue acting, which I’ve been doing for…ever. *laughs* Anyway, you’ll do definitely be able to pursue your dreams if you stay focused…and if you believe, you can achieve. You’re a fab writer. *hugs* ~
