Mostly a tech ramble and squirrel fun
Today I gave in and decided to use my phone upgrade to get either the iPhone 8+ or the X. Even with my discounts, they are still way too much money. I can’t justify $800 on a new phone – I must be getting old or is it mature?
This leaves me wondering what to do with my current phone; iPhone 6+, runs so slow it makes frustrating to use. There is also an issue with the battery now or lack thereof.
Unless it gets horrible, I’ll wait until early 2018.
My friend Anas had a computer problem yesterday and fixed it. It makes me glad my primary laptop is a 2012 MacBook Pro. I’m putting off buying a new one for a couple of reasons.
The first ones being that after upgrading mine, it runs faster than the 2016 and almost as fast as the 2017 models; as well as, I have 4 TB of hard drive space.
The second one is apparently Apple made the newer models nearly impossible to upgrade, and I hate business practices like that.
One of the cool things I was shown today is a visualisation of a neuro net working/training. A neuro network in your browser it’s relatively fun to play around with.
My server is having issues. For some reason; bell is unhelpful with problems, my PPPoE started to randomly change the last few weeks. I really should call them tomorrow; this has made it impossible to keep my website live and receive/send email. I keep getting texts and calls from friends who use my server as their private cloud. Thankfully there is an entrance without relying on the DNS. I’ll deal with this Monday.
Medhia; my kidney disease, nearly blind from cataracts, had quite an adventurous day. At one point I found her stuck behind my TV. No idea how she got up there, but she couldn’t figure out how to get down. Earlier in the day, she was heading outside while I was feeing a squirrel. Medhia bumped noses with the squirrel and hissed at it. The poor squirrel didn’t know what to do. It started to run, then stopped and just looked at her. Mediah ignored the staredown and walked away to get a drink.
The other squirrel adventure came in the form of one running into my house. While hand feeding Dance, two others came up behind him and scared him. Instead of turning and running, he ran into my house. It took about 15 seconds and a fully open door for him to figure out how to exit the house.
That was all the excitement for the day. I put off cleaning since no one is coming over the next few weeks.

I think a squirrel in the house is quite enough excitement for one day 🙂
I thought so too but it got even more exciting today.

My daughter just got the iPhone X because her BF got one. She can afford it but I wish she would focus on paying off her student loans first. She’s 30 and hasn’t made a dent yet.
Oh to be young and impulsive.
