So proud…
WUNC came out to the bird park a few weeks ago and filmed a segment for NC Weekend. It showcased the park well, focusing on our newest exhibit, The Landing Zone.
The downside is that due to exposure like this, and a recent article in Our State, the number of visitors to the park has skyrocketed this year. Over this past holiday weekend we had 600-700 visitors a day. A great problem to have, but lots of extra stress on the staff and volunteers. I’m proud of the work we do, but as a board member also have to take a long term view. Numbers like this mean we need to update the parking, restroom and admission/gift shop facilities. And there is a definitel need to increase the staff count.
RYN: I know! It was 11 years ago, in the middle of the night, and during the immediate recovery period after a particularly brutal asthma attack, so my memories are probably not entirely trustworthy. Despite that, other memories of the same time period are accurate, so I’m sure I didn’t imagine it. The liquid was clear with a yellowish tinge. Is it possible to take a sample of plasma that way?

RYN: Mind you, if it was supposed to be a plasma sample, why did the nurse freak out and stop it, then apologise? Hmm. It was strange no matter how you try to explain it. Too much time has passed. I don’t think I’ll ever find out.

The price of progress and success…every project should be so lucky.

I can certainly see the dilemna. But I hope that it will also bring an increase of donations and volunteers.
