Greetings from America’s wang…

There is some interesting pancreatic cancer research going on here, but central Florida is still one of the most banal and contrived places on Earth.  Strip malls, chain restaurants, tract housing and cookie-cutter architecture in dull corporate parks abound.

It may be a case of à chacun son goût, but I could not imagine living in such a soul-deadening place.  It’s like the worst of American tastelessness distilled down to its essence.

My Vietnamese charges are a nice lot, but they are completely out of their element.  Rather than eat out, they would rather cook in their hotel suites!  They are in a place with full kitchens, but it certainly not what I would consider well equipped facilities.  It takes the burden of keeping them entertained in the evenings off me, at least.

Everything bad happens in Florida. RYN: The neuro surgeon reported back as have many others.

I grew up in central FL… I kind of miss it, but then I remember how bored I always was… it’s probably just the beach I miss anyway.

Florida… Bah! My MIL has FINALLY stopped asking that we move down there. It’s mostly rather bleak feeling despite the sunshine. There are a few spots worth visiting though.

RYN: I don’t know for sure. No one really knows for certain except the folks who experienced it.

I have a friend who is living with a Vietnamese lady. She won’t use a plate, and won’t eat out either.
