There is a comedy routine in this somewhere…

In November 2006 I was in Hanoi, Vietnam.  I even got to stay at the Hanoi Hilton, which was absolutely lovely.  (Those POWs are certainly a whinging bunch.  Everything about the place was first class!)  There are a few entries about the trip back that-a-way.

But I digress…

I now have three colleagues coming in from Vietnam to the U.S. for three weeks, and I have been asked to be their "handler" for part of the trip.  It will mean some time at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Orlando with them.  Not my favorite place on the planet (Orlando, that is), but it will be nice to catch up with them again.

The comedy routine comes from the fact that their names are Vu, Phu, and Huy.  Short names for short people.  If we could work a Phuc into the group we’d really have some material.

Ah – we had a child named Phuc at the grade school I used to work at.

I just noticed on my travel health insurance that they do not cover emergency medical procedures done in Vietnam…and I’m wondering why that is so

wow, that really is a comedy sketch waiting to happen!

It so happens we’re in Hongkong right now, and Mike had a medical emergency (angioplasty reqd) so we didn’t board cruise ship which had Vietnam & Cambodia on its itinerary…both latter excluded in coverage along with other places such as Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan which are understandable. So glad it happened in HK…he’s OK now. St. Teresa’s Hospital HK is amazing.

I dont think your poking fun at the hell some of our American Soldiers experienced is appropriate. The Hanoi Hilton referred to the Tiger Cages many of our POW’s were kept in,as well as the prison camp itself. You need to grow a sensitivity bone. My husband is a wounded warrior. He cries and screams in his sleep EVERY night. Shame on you for poking fun at something he had to do for our Country!
