Catherine the Great!

Long time no write!  My bad, I’m not worth a shit…on my second scotch of the day and yeah I am at work…but since I own the company well I guess who is here to bitch..(well actually the Office manager Gloria would own my ass if she saw me sipping the scotch at 3pm, I made my lead project manager take a shot of vodka with me….its tough to drink alone you know!)  

After the project manager left I made my lead foreman take a shot of scotch with me also…so fuck it!

Yeah its been that kind of week…

The upside is,  I am 3 days away from finishing a major project…the downside is I am 3 days away from finishing a major project..

It is weird you work so close and so long with clients to bring their space alive,  you almost become unhinged when the work is complete…

I think they have a medical description for this process…"helsinki syndrome"  no no its "Stockholm Syndrome"…..

 

So was at the project with the designers today…was looking at Todd’s ass…pretty good looking ass for a 40 year old…(still pretty sure I’m straight,  it was more of a clinical observation just so ya know) he was walking up the steps in front of me..so thats how it happened..it coulda been the jeans he was wearing too!

 

Anyways on to the title of my post.."Catherine the Great"  so im reading this biography of Catherine the Great,  empress of russia…and yeah wow…I am not even sure where to begin…but I guess my thoughts are nihilistic…you think these powerful people have it made and then when you start digging you find out that they are more boxed in by their world than say even a woodcutter is…kinda depressing in a way…you work, you scheme, you plan, you twist and turn and for what…your still reacting to shit you cannot control…ehh..

I don’t know…could be a confluence of current events in my own life..but I find her story infinitely depressing yet i’m still stuck reading the story to the bitter end…(as a side note Russian politics makes Hamas and the mafia look like kindergarten!)  Whats the point of working your ass off and the "American Dream" if its all the same as if you lived in a trailer in the woods collecting your govt. check and eating squirrels..

Paid the IRS my taxes this year…

So here it is:

 

Total income: 207,500.00  Gross Income

Federal income tax:  57,000.00

State income tax  17,000.00

Social Security  24,590.00

Local Muni property taxes: 7,500.00

Business taxes and permit fees 4300.00

Tithe to church  $27,000.00

Fuel taxes adjusted but claimed as business expense (not deducted from gross income)  $6500.00

Gross sales taxes paid on materials used on projects $59,500.00 (business expense not counted against gross income)

Unemployment expenses paid to state for employees 12500, (business expense but not counted against gross income)

So summary:

total income  $207,500.00 paid in taxes and tithes $133,090.00  net income to household $74,410.00

How is that to make you feel all warm and fuzzy about our great democracy…and you know what sucks…I had like 50 different ways to screw the govt.  but just refused to do so…but I am really starting to wonder if my integrity can hold up against working 60-80 hour weeks and still walking out with 75k for all the effort…I am wondering if other companies and people screw the govt as best they can cause the govt. is screwing us back counting on us screwing them…

 

Iuno!  seems like its not a business friendly environment if you ask me…but all the talk is about the "evil rich" and business people screwing everyone but if you ask me…its pretty damn hard and power to em if they make it!  and Yeah I think i’m voting for Mitt,  hell if he can make money in thiks climate then more power to him, and lets hope he can turn our govt around!
