I went to see The Descendants today. Oscar nominated for best film and best actor. George Clooney again puts on a fantastic performance. He plays a man who’s wife gets into an accident and is in a coma and dying. He finds out that she’s been having an affair. He is rich and lives on Hawaii and has to take care of his two daughters aged ten and 17. The subject matter sounds heavy but is dealt with in a light and humouristic way, without getting flippant. His wife is going to die and he wants to give the other man the chance of saying goodbye. It’s a journey. I’d recommend it.
Watched the Glee season three Christmas special. Apparently meant as a parody on the standard American type of Christmas specials. I didn’t really get it. Maybe it was just a bit too American. The songs were OK, but definitely not the best episode.
Watched ep 9 season 2 of Dawson’s Creek. The election. Andy is suffering from mood swings and is afraid she’ll go insane like her mother. This show is from 1998 and I have to remember that that’s a long while ago. It feels like time just disappears sometimes. What have I done in all these years? Nothing much to speak of.
I’m thinking about buying a cineville card. For 18 euros a month you can go to any movie you want to go to (in selected theatres). This will mean I will be basically forced to go to movies in these arthouse theatres and will not be able to go to the more commercially oriented competitors. I like arthouse better anyway.
I also may go for extra movie channels on my TV. That costs 15 euros a month.
I should do more things a like. Work on my life. Set goals and improve myself.
All these decisions can lead to panic. I need structure. Making these decisions do not fit into a daily routine.
