Today started out OK, but in the middle I got distracted again. In the morning, after breakfast, I walked to the centre to buy new duvet covers (boy, it took me some time to find the correct English word) and pillow cases. I also had to buy some lamps and dish towels. The most important part, however, was the exercise. Walking to the city, in the city and back home from the city took about a total of 2 hours. 2 hours of being mainly outside in the sun and in the mean time doing the work out needed to keep fit.
At home again I had lunch, and afterwards I had to do some emailing. That was fine. I had received a direct email address of the person hiring people at the job of a friend of mine. I decided not to apply immediately, but think about it first and reply later in the evening. Then, I got stuck again. It happens to me too often that I don’t seem to be able to draw myself away from a useless activity. Sometimes it is television and sometimes it is something else. In this case I couldn’t tear myself away from the computer. I wasn’t doing anything that I needed to do, and, what is worse, I didn’t even do something that I wanted to do. Just structureless zapping from one internet site to the next and playing games on the computer and not even caring whether I was winning. Starting a game of draughts against the computer and not paying attention, or just quitting in the middle of a game. And then starting over again. No, it was a waste of five hours time. From 3 to 8 I should’ve done something else.
Luckily I got too hungry and I still had enough discipline left to turn the thing off and make dinner. At this point the day was made well again. I ate some chicken and watched ‘The Big Bang Theory’ followed by ‘Grey’s Anatomy’. Then I did the dishes and went back to my computer. I carefully wrote the email that hopefully will secure me my new job. Fingers crossed. Then I concluded the evening by watching an episode of Angel (The price, season 3) and writing in this diary. I feel that writing just before you go to bed makes it easier to sleep. You can get rid of the excitement of the day; the enormous influx of images, sounds, scents, feelings that bombard you day after day. Writing makes it probably easier to deal with all this also subconsciously in your dreams.
