Police exams & photos

Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes =] I had a good day, well I had to work all day which i was annoyed about but i got to wake up with Geard so that was good!  I went out for tea the night after with the parents, brother and his girlfriend, bren, geard, julie and a couple of girls from my high school that i don’t think i’ve mentioned here before.

So last weekend I went for my next lot of police exams.  The morning started at 7.30 AM with a fitness test.  I might add that i failed this miserably.  They didn’t let me do a few things because i had a wrist band on and had stupidly forgotten to bring my medical clearance.  So I need to go back and do that if i pass the rest of the days activities.

After that we had to do a group activity which wasn’t too difficult.

Then we watched a video and had to take notes, we then had to write out a report to read to the board of police that were examining us as if they were our supervisors.

While I waited for my turn to read out my report they took me outside, handed me a utility belt with a fake radio, fake gun, handcuffs, and a baton to put on and told me i’d be playing out a scenario as if i’d just pulled this lady over for not having her seatbelt on.  I was told just do what you think would be right and then they left me alone.

I walked up to the car and tapped on the window, she had her phone to her ear and ignored me.  I shouted at her until she turned to me and yelled WHAT!  I told her to put the window down which she did and then yelled WHAT?!  at me again.  I told her to get off the phone which she said she wasn’t doing.  I asked her once again and she said no again.

I walked around the other side of the car and pretended to take her details on my fake notepad.  She the opened the door and yells, what the fuck do you think you’re doing.  This continued for about ten minutes lol it was so funny if i wasn’t so terrified.  I feel i may have failed that exercise because i didn’t get her to calm down at all.

After that I had to do my speech, which by this point I had totally forgotten from nerves from the last exercise.  I’m fine once i start ranting about something so that went okay.  I don’t really have a problem with public speaking.

After that we had lunch in the academy with all the other trainee constables.  It’s such a nice setup there i really hope i get it because i’d really be comfortable there.

We then filled up some papers and had our formal interviews.  I was the first one to go in but they weren’t ready yet.  So i had to sit in this seat by myself in silence for what felt like forever, i think it was about 25 mins, i lost count of time i was that nervous.  I don’t think i’ve ever been nervous for an entire day before that day lol!

I walked in to this tiny office and sat in a chair with four seargents facing me.  It was the most horrible interview i’ve ever faced.  They were fierce!  Told me I knew nothing about this place and that I hadn’t put any thought into coming at all, it was just a resort away from retail.  I’d heard that they were horrible but argh, shook me up.  I was pretty confident up until that point, and now i’m fairly sure i have buckleys of getting in.  No hope whatsoever.

We shall see anyway.  I’ll but upset if i don’t get in but i really don’t expect to at all.  I’ll let you know.

Here are some photos from this weekend, we went up to launceston fpr MS Fest, saw the Presets, The Living End, Faker, COG, Josh Pike etc.  Then on Monday Julie and I went to the Hobart Cup.

Random Noter here…Maybe the bluntness of the sargents were part of the training excercize? I think so cause there are similar situations here in canada for wanna be cops…I think they want to know how you deal with difficult people and from what I read you don’t..
