Picnic and Heat Exhaustion
291
Make a goal of having a picnic today or tomorrow. Pack a lunch. Go with friends or family. Enjoy the outdoors and throw down that blanket and chow down. Make bring along a Frisbee or something fun to toss about.
Today was the first real day of the Honor Flight trip – and we did have a picnic. We have sandwiches and fruit, and while we tired to go to a park it was too hot outside for any of us today to eat outside.
Sadly, I did not, could not eat. Being outside in the heat and humidity of D.C. I ended up on the still sort of good side of heat exhaustion. I was able to get some water down at least. But this is the part we tell no one else – it was bad enough that I passed out in the back of the bus.
At least I was smart enough to realize on the tour bus there was AC and little air vents for each of the seats. I got those on and pointed at me before I passed out.
Yup, little Alaskan girl is a whimp when it comes to heat.
I didn’t pass out for long, maybe 10 or 15 minutes, probably needed the sleep anyways. And After a bit I was able to get more water down and at least some fruit from the lunches.
Yeah – only causality of the Honor Flight trip – me.
