Not in NY anymore

 Wow.  I’m not n NY anymore.  Should change that in my diary info.  I’m officially in MI.  With an apartment and classes and more bills than I know what to do with.  And basically nothing coming in as of yet.  I’m looking for a job.  And waiting for financial aid.  But I’m here.  I’m really doing this.  I haven’t given up.  At least not yet.

There’s so much going through my mind.  I’m scared, but not nearly as scared as yesterday.  Or the day before.  Well, now I have new fears, new terrors.  But I have friends.  I have a mentoring group.  There are eight of us, but one will not be here the whole semester.  Let’s see…

There’s Jillian, Joel, John, Julia, Yvette and Paul.  Our leader is Mary.  She seems very awesome and I like her immensely.  She’s already invited us over to her house (along with any family members) for dinner, although it might not end up working out for this week.  She’s nervous because this is her first year mentoring and she was asked late.  But this is not her first year here, and she’s been a student here before too.  So she can relate to our worries and fears.  And she’s a contact, a point person.  The rest of the group is ranging from just graduating from college to an older man who is a missionary in Mexico.  He won’t be here the whole time.  John is also older with four kids.  I’m excited because I’m not the only MA:W student.  We’ve got four MA:Ws and Julia and Yvette are Youth Studies.  It looks like its going to be a really great group.  We all share the same fear of knowing when and how much to trust people, how much to open up and let other people in.  But as it is a fear we all share, it is something we can get over together.

The apartment needs more sorting and cleaning, but its not looking all that bad.  Maybe a pictures or two tomorrow.  There’s no internet at my apartment yet.  I might not get it since its another cost.  But we’ll see.
