Last First Day of Undergrad

The first day of classes is always tiring, but exciting.  I’m really not sure how excited I am about having 9am and 8 am classes this semester, but on the flip side, getting up and going means my day seems to be more productive.  I’m not in bed until 11am or later, because I’ve got class.  Mouse is also in both of my first classes, which I think will be strong motivation for me to get up and get to class.  This is the first (and last semester) we’ll have classes together, so I should make the most of it.  We actually just switched a class tonight so we’ll be together tomorrow.  I’m excited because this means I’ll actually get to see her at least once nearly every single day.  The ensemble placements went pretty okay.  I really didn’t want to get put in an ensemble with Luke because he’s such a douche bag.  There are few people I’ve met who perfectly fit that term, but he is one of them.  I was able to avoid contact with him most of the time last semester, but still had some good examples of his douche baggery.  This semester…  Mouse and I have a little bet going to see who is going to make him cry first.  After my recital is done, I’m going to really get a case of senioritis where music is concerned.  I’ll have four other major classes to be concerned with – Spanish, American Women, American Religious History and Form & Analysis.  Only the last one is actually a music class.  The rest will take up most of my time and effort, so I’m not going to put up with a lot of Loser Luke and his crap.  I’m sure Doc was not too wild on putting me in an ensemble with him, but she may not have had much of a choice.  Gotta love those conductors!

Thankfully, I’m only slated to play English horn in orchestra.  Luke is first and Steph (freshman) sits second, therefore between us.  Poor girl, she’s already aware she’ll be mediating between the two of us.  Although she’s definitely more my friend and cohort than his.  He’s managed to alienate himself from all of the students and almost all the faculty.  I’m sure by the end of the semester, he’ll have worked through the faculty as well.  Portions of the oboe party tonight were spent comparing Luke stories and how much of a douche he is.  This is the thing.  He doesn’t have enough power, clout or respect to actually be an ass.  No one cares that much what he has to say.  He just thinks he does.  Gah!  I can’t stand him!

Tomorrow is a light, but early EARLY day.  Eight AM classes, and upper level theory at that.  I haven’t even cracked my textbook yet cause I’m too scared as to what it holds.  I’ll find out tomorrow!
