Migraine or Numb Fingers?

I’ve been leaving the posting until I go to bed, but seeing as thats going to be extremely late tonight, I’ll do it now.  Except I need a topic…

Today’s events were, well, uneventful.  I woke up, late.  Cale decided a good time to play would be about four o’clock this morning.  So she pranced into my room with her bell toy and yowled until I told her to shut up.  But she had to wake me up and make me aware of her demands before I responded.  It was not a pleasant way to be awoken.  Then I was awake and couldn’t fall back to sleep right away.  I could hear her playing around on the floor.  Why can’t she just amuse herself to begin with?  Why does she first have to annoy the hell out of me?  Kelly says she waits for me when I’m not home.  She’s either on the back of the couch, right by the door or at the top of the stairs.  But Kelly said she rarely goes into Kelly’s room unless I’m in there talking to Kelly.  Its odd for me because I’ve never had a pet that was so attached.  We had dogs growing up, but Skye was my mother’s and so was Kiltie.  They were family pets and did listen to all of us, but they didn’t really favor any one of us.  They had pads in the laundry room.  Cale sleeps on my bed.  If I’m on the couch, she’s on it with me, or right next to it.  If I’m in the kitchen, she’s in there.  Either laying on the mat next to my feet or playing within my view.  Sometimes her whining is just a request to be picked up and cuddled for a moment.  Its nice to be loved, desired, wanted.  I’m just completely not used to it!

I had to run around this morning, and missed out on a number of things I was going to do.  The lake effect snow warnings have started in this week, so it was really cold and ugly outside.  I don’t quite understand why they actually issue those warnings.  I mean, its nearly wintertime and we live within 20 miles of the lake.  ANY snow we get is lake effect, and usually we’ll get it every day!  I understand outside that 20 mile limit, the snow is hit or miss.  Sometimes its lake effect, sometimes not.  So they can have the warnings.  I think they should just put us into a "Its winter, dumbass.  Watch out" warning until the spring.  Would make more sense.

Band rehearsal today went really well.  The clarinets actually practiced, which relieved a lot of the pressure off the oboe section.  This works much like horses pulling a load.  If one horse isn’t doing the work properly, the other horse has to make up the difference.  That second horse works harder and tires out faster.  The first horse is the clarinets, and the second is the oboes.  And today that first horse finally started doing their fair share of the work.  It was obvious they had all practiced and stepped up.  We have one rehearsal and our dress before the actual concert on Thursday.  I’m really excited and trying to get people to come.  I really think its going to be a rockin’ show.

Bad things about today – my back hurts even more.  I’ve been taking one pain pill in the morning when I get up, along with my other daily meds.  I can definitely tell when I don’t take them, so I know its actually helping.  But, I don’t need to take anymore through out the day.  Usually.  Today in band, I was in a lot of pain.  And it was only getting worse.  So I took a second pill, and the pain did eventually let up a bit.  But those pills make me fuzzy.  I lose focus and have to concentrate on some of the simplest tasks.  Its not a bad thing, just frustrated to a woman who is used to multi-tasking.  I’ve also been suffering from more and more migraines these past few days.  I feel like PT makes it worse, and the longer I go without PT, the better I feel.  Except, today I actually noticed a huge improvement in my fingers that was clearly due to the PT.  So I basically feel like I can either have fingers that work but migraines that cripple or no migraines and fingers that are crippled.  What would you pick?

Do you go to a chiropractor for your back? It is the only thing that works for me when my back is in pain.

We should start a “Mommies of Needy Kitties” club or something. Mine are ridiculous sometimes!

RYN: Yeah, there’s the Lavinia in Titus Andronicus, but she’s not the happiest character in literature. O.o Lavinia was also the second wife of Aeneas in the Iliad, and therefore the progenitor of the Roman kings and emperors according to myth. But our main reason for picking it is because Livinia (with an I) is a demigoddess in Sir’s homebrew D&D pantheon, and we both fell in love with the name from that. ::laughs:: Xander and Livinia … both are from our D&D games! Oh, we’re sad people.

RYN: I don’t love the name Liv, but I could see people calling her that. If I had a nickname for her, it’d probably be Livy (or Livvie). But in general, I tend to not use shortened names for people – it’s just a personal habit.
