I am a Christian and way more of a Calvinist than I’ve ever thought.

The temp has settled into a 40s/50s range for the next 5 or 6 days, so I turned the heat on.  The apartment is way more insulated than my last place, so it holds way more heat.  But high winds and 40 degrees at night makes it a little cool.  I set the thermostat at 70.  Last night, the heater kicked on for the first time and it was loud.  I have never seen a cat fly so high into the air!

I found this on someone’s random diary and they were misspelled (he corrects them later.)  But I think they provide a completely different perspective spelled this way:

My problems are not your own, but are they more than I can bare?

I want to become an amatuer painist.

Is there such thing as a written Freudian slip?

A few years ago a friend gave me a beautiful mug and some mix as a present.  (NITTAKINS!)  The mixes, called CoffeeMilkTea were from a Korean store in the City, though I can’t recall where now.  Oh. My. Pickle Juice.  It was amazing.  Sounds disgusting, maybe, but I loved it.  There were only so many in the box and I have horded them jealously.  Last year, I was doing my junior recital and sent out tons of invitations to friends and family, even though I knew many of them would not be able to make it.  I still wanted them to know that I did indeed want them there.  One of the people invited was Shazar, an long-time OD friend, whom I had never met in real life.  He lives about 8-9 hours away (depending on who’s driving) and I didn’t expect hiom to be able to make the long trip.  So I was tickled pink when I got an email from him if I was serious about the invitation.  I said of course!  If he was willing to drive the distance (and bring his camera equipment!) I would feed and house him for the weekend.  Knowing how much I missed downstate and the things only it can offer, he asked if there was anything he could bring.  I miss the pizza and bagels a lot, but neither of those travel well.  Everything else I miss from the City really needs to be experienced in the City.  Except…   I was nearly out of the CoffeeMilkTea.  I explained to Shazar what it was, but it had been a few years since Nittakins had bought them.  I was hopeful, but the day of Shazar’s arrival, there were other things on my mind.  My recital was the very next day!  Imagine my delighted surprise when Shazar produced two bags of mixes for me.  They were not exactly CoffeeMilkTea and he was sad he could not find the exact match.  Instead he had found CoffeeTea and TeaMilk.  They are just as good, and I have enjoyed them immensely.  Again, I horde them jealously.  Except for the past few days.  Its been cold at night and I’m up late studying.  I have my electric afgan out (most amazing invention EVER!) and I curl up on the couch with FDR and his foreign policies.  I need something warm to drink, but I’m not craving coffee or hot chocolate.  Most perfect thing ever:  CoffeeTea.  I’m starting to feel like I’m running low, so I switched to TeaMilk last night and it was good too.  I definitly love CoffeeTea more (that’s the coffee addict in me), but either one is wonderful and warm and comforting.  Its become my nighttime studying partner.

Electric afgan, Barlett’s West Wing, FDR’s foreign policy and CoffeeTea

My cat is making me nuts.  She’s doing her purr/meow, which it should be noted is different than her meow/purr or just the purr or the meow.  She’s nuts too.  So I pick her up and she snuggles into my lap, purring.  I don’t think she’s a fan of the cold, cause she’s only started doing this since the temp dropped.  But then I can’t type cause I’m trying to hold her.  So I shift slightly and move my arms up.  She’s okay for a few moments, then jumps down.  WIthin minutes, she’s purr/meowing again to be picked up.  Oh my pickles!

Now, she’s lying on the floor and purr/meowing like a grunt.  Everytime I look at her, she purr/meows and pops her head as if to say "What? Whatcha gonna do about it?"  I’ve got a ghetto cat.

I was talking to Manny last night about how I’ve been studying for my history class.  He asked what I was studying and I answered American foreign policy in the 1930s.  He answered, "That’s easy.  It was isolationism."  And he’s right.  But there are a ton of foreign policies that were in place to keep us isolated.  Besides the fact that his answer is a high school answer.  My class is a 400-level college course.  Its a little more complicated.  He asked why the hell did I need to know this crap.  As annoying as it is to learn everything, I do find it interesting.  Its also part of my liberal arts degree.  He answered that he went to an arts school and didn’t have to take a stupid course like that.  I was starting to get annoyed as I informed him there was a difference between a liberal arts school and an art school.  Smart aleck asked what they taught at a conservative arts school.  I was quiet a moment as a resisted the urge to bite his head off and hang up.  I finally said I wasn’t going to answer that.  Smart boy finally picked up on the subtle hint that he was being a jackass and let it go.

I love Shredded Wheat.  Not the Mini’s.  The original that come in individual packets and you have to break apart with your hands.  My mom used warm the cereal and milk up in the microwave on really cold mornings.  This may be the one reason why I wish I had a microwave.

I remember when Shazar went up to visit you – he had me researching CoffeeMilkTea, hoping we’d be able to figure out what the hell it was and where to get it! ::laughs::

I love tea with milk… never had the mix. But, could you not just have tea or coffee with milk? Or is it completely different? Shazar is a good friend, indeed 🙂

*laughs* Avalon’s right, AND she knew where to look, also! I bet we could track it down in Chinatown! I totally forgot all about the mix; thanks for the memory! Next trip, I’ll bring more, plus some bagels and pizza… assuming they survive the trip, and avoid my tummy. Mwhahaha! I’m curious now… what WOULD a conservative arts college teach?! 😀
