Catch-up and questions

So I spent all this time redesigning my diary; new colors, new front page… and then I stopped writing. I want to write and update and chronicle my life. I’ve even been thinking about those questions. I’ve just been busy and the time I would spend writing could be spent sleeping. I’ve only been sleeping a few hours a night as it is, when I do sleep, so I’ve been opting for the sleep. So quick recap….

Went home for wedding. Totally surprised Settle out of his mind. Favorite part was dancing with him and then just hanging out at Shadows after the reception ended. A sign of great friends – when you can sit around and just talk, literally doing nothing. Really hate the girl currently living in my old bedroom. I’ll have to de-stupidify it when I go home. Came back from wedding and took Becca with me to help with church stuff. It was quick but really worth it. Spanish class started. I’m doing okay, but starting to remember more German than learning any new Spanish. So frustrating. Sarah and I went to Waterloo for Alex Klein master class. Amazing. Some “facts” about Alex Klein:
*Alex Klein sneezes at A440.
*Alex Klein once played so demonically that his oboe turned inside out and lost a surface, giving us the original Klein bottle.
*Alex Klein has been banned from playing Berlioz’ “Symphonie Fantastique” since too many audience members were decapitated the last time he played “March to the Scaffold.”
*The clarinet is an inferior instrument, as it can only play notes that Alex Klein has rejected as not being good enough for the oboe.
*It is a little-known fact that “hautbois” comes from an ancient Sumerian term meaning “Alex Klein, king of kings, slayer of beasts, all-conquering tyrant.” When the word is spoken, puppies die.
*There are no even-tempered tunings, only obstinate tunings Alex Klein has played into submission.
*When Alex Klein plays “Peter and the Wolf,” the duck ends up killing everyone and setting fire to the stage.
*In 1883 people heard a loud sound and assumed it was Krakatoa exploding. It was actually Alex Klein playing a three-octave A arpeggio.

Right. Amazing. We drove to Waterloo on Sunday, master class Monday, recital Monday night, then drove home. Decided driving in Canada really sucks and their road signs are horrible. This week I’m playing a gig with an orchestra, and found out this girl from the oboe studio ended up playing first. Long annoying story, but she sucks and should NOT be first. It was offered to me on the condition the usual guy couldn’t play. But then he couldn’t find a sub. So he was going to play. I showed up to rehearsal on Tuesday and she’s sitting first. I really almost blew a gasket. Tomorrow (as in a few hours) I have a Spanish exam and I will probably fail.

So instead of doing anything productive here are the answers to those questions asked forever ago.

From [Shesolovely]: What do you like to do in your spare time?
I really don’t have a lot of spare time, and even the spare time I have is spent thinking about things I’ll have to do. But I love reading when I have the time and won’t fall asleep on top of the book. I like catching up on my soap opera. I’ve watched General Hospital since junior high and enjoy seeing what, and who, has changed. Whats great about soaps is that you can miss a week or a month or even a year or two and still get caught up in an episode. So I don’t feel the need to catch every single episode. I like to experiment with cooking when I’ve got time too. Trying new ideas and or just a new recipe. Not so brave with baking, but cooking I do like. I really miss making my own pasta sauce. I just haven’t had time lately. And sad as it is, I like to surf the internet for new oboe music. Trying to find recordings I can listen to online and discovering abstract pieces to play for recitals.

From [Dreamer_Believer]:
1. Is there a moment when you look back and think “that was the moment, the moment that defined everything”?
I don’t know that there was the moment that defined everything. Something defined the next steps that I took, which got me to the next defining moment, which got me to another point and another and so on. I’m not entirely sure there was just one moment. There’s been lots of them. Finding out my band teacher was arrested made my world flip pretty hard, and then be told no one could be told about it and having to lie to my friends. That was pretty defining. It lead me to not putting up with the kitchen boy feeling me up and trying to take me home. It has lead me to not give anyone that much influence and power over my lfie. But that’s not everything. Being suicidal was pretty defining, but I didn’t really tell anyone the first time, and its happened again. Being diagnosed with bipolar was pretty defining. Finally accepting Manny and I were not going to be together was defining. I’m not sure any one of those moments completely defines me or who I’ve become. I’m too complex of a person. Some of the moments impacted other moments, which in turn impacted other things. And other connections have happened I can’t even realize. Its the butterfly effect and chaos theory.

2. Whats the craziest thing you’ve ever done?
I’m not sure what’s the craziest… Skinny dipping, sex on the second date, one night stands, making out in an elevator with a stranger, body surfing down the Susquhanna, driving to Toronto, driving to Lake George on a whim (we were headed for CT), attempted to bulldoze a tree out of the road with a truck, driving to and from Fostoria in one day (just to watch trains), gotten back together with an ex-boyfriend, taken Spanish… I’m really not sure which one is craziest, but there you go

3. If we lived in a world with out limits, what would you do?
No limits, huh? Man-made limits or natural limits? Cause if I could fly, that would be amazing. But as for man-made limits, like laws and rules and such… I really don’t know. It would be more fun to be able to do everything as long as everyone else had to. So I really don’t know!

4. If you had to listen to the same song for a 24 hour period, what song would it be?
Since you said song, and technically speaking a song is a piece of music with words, I can’t say a Brahms Symphony or something. Which is okay. Cause I think after 24 hours I might shoot someone. So…
Gustav Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde Its a little over an hour long, so I could listen to it at least 23 times. Its so beautiful and amazing. My only request, is that I have the translation available to follow along as I needed.

5. If a famous person knocked on your door naked, who would you like it to be and would you let them in?
I’ve been thinking about this for a while and came up with two answers. If the word famous could include people who may not be world-famous, but are famous inside my world… I would say my husband, whoever he may be. Because then I’d know who I’d be marrying and hell yeah I’d let him in!!! But world-famous? Hollywood and newspapers kind of famous? And naked? Which changes everything. Cause there are lots of famous people I’d love to come knocking on my door, just ont naked! So… I was watching Red Dragon the other night and realized who I would love to have naked at my door. Edward Norton. I’ve been in love with him for… I don’t know how long. But he’s amazing. And now that he’s doing the new Hulk movie, he’s all muscular! **sigh** Yes, please, come in!

You know, we discussed this today at this book circle I belong to. Well, a friend of mine and I did on the way there. Some people has dropped out of the book circle, too busy they say. and it is the single ones, jobs that doesn’t eat them alive, no studies that eats up there time, only themselves to worry about that drops out. but te ones that comes every time are the ones that have jobs/studies/kids/husbands/million of other activities. I guess the more busy one is, the more one value time and are able to carve out time to do what one wants. Or, just used to being busy and don’t react to it as they do. It just hit me when thinking about my own question and what I would answer :-)!
