twelve in 12: twelve books in twelve months

Twelve in12

The Challenge: Read 12 books of 200 pages or more in 12 months. That’s one book per month.

The Timeframe: October 1, 2007 to October 1, 2008

The Reason: Studies have shown that reading helps keep your mind healthy and active. The mind you save may be your own.

So I missed Tuesday’s entry and dosage. It was an odd day. Manny ended up calling about 11pm, and I was tired and ready to go to bed, so I got in while we talked. He was working the last hour of his shift. His company pays for a car to drive him home, cause its too late for the train. We talked the entire car ride home. It was good. We talked about a lot of nothing, but everthing. I’m kinda of bumemed he’s not going to be here for my recital, but I don’t think I ever really expected him to come. I really wanted him to, but he doesn’t have his own car and his job. I just never really thought he’d actually make it out here. But I have plenty others coming out here, which I am so excited about.

I bought my shoes today. And the bras should be coming tomorrow. Hopefully, cause I paid for the overnight shipping charge. I need those bras! I also had my lesson today, which went pretty good. I have a bunch of serious reeds, which feels really good. Doc says she’s doing less and less to my reeds each week. So that means I’m getting closer to being able to make my reeds on my own. Which is a very good thing. Jesse came into the lesson today and we actually played really well together. The two pieces we’ve been having trouble with finally just really started to snap into place. It was a great feeling.

I was wandering around OD and found a random diary, actually one that I’ve come across before. He was talking about this Twelve in 12 thing. After looking into it, it seemed like a really cool idea. So I’ve decided I’m going to give it a try. I started Mirror, Mirror not that long ago, so I want to try and finish before the month’s over. Then I’ll move onto something else. I want to reread Wicked, as its been over a year since I read it. There are some other books I have here that I want to read. Then it will be Christmas and who knows what will happen then!

I just ran into a few someones today
Someones that I never really knew
And I used to think how I had them all so figured out

But no, none of it’s true cuz I never knew you
And now the truth of it is, is I wanna be like you
So hello, good friend, I wanna be next to you
For my head, for my heart, for whats true

So I’m burning the thoughts of the things that I once said
Because you tore down the walls that the world has put inside my head
And I just get sick of things that we think, we think we know

And no, none of it’s true cuz I never knew you
And now the truth of it is, is I wanna be like you
So hello, good friend, I wanna be next to you
For my head, for my heart, for whats true

So take me and save me and change me and then make me
And embrace me and then brave my heart for you
No, No, cuz I can’t go on without you
And it’s time for something we never knew, oh

And no, none of it’s true cuz I never knew you
and now the truth of it is, is I wanna be like you
So hello, good friend, I wanna be next to you
For my head, for my heart, for whats true

And as they strolled along
My heart broke out in song
From all the things and the thoughts and assumptions that I had wrong
See now I’ll be on my way to make this claim
I’ll make it famous in everyway
I’ll make it stay when I will say that…

No, none of it’s true cuz I never knew you
And now the truth of it is, is I wanna be like you
So hello, good friend, I wanna be next to you
For my head for my heart for whats true

Ahh! Books! I can’t wait to get back to MY reading queue, instead of the class requirements! You know, maybe that’s why you’re a musician – the fact that you have to make your own reeds. It’s pretty hardcore. Now I feel guilty being a photographer, because I take my camera to Nikon for a tune-up instead of cleaning it myself. 😛 Sucks about Manny. We should broadcast you on the web, for everyone to cheer! 🙂

I can do 12-in-12… I think this year has been the most books I’ve ever read! (I’ve been keep track with a monthly list). Fish pads? Ewww! 😛 Okay, fair enough. Both our equipment needs to be “outsourced” for servicing. I went to bed an hour earlier last night, and woke up 2 hours earlier today! But I feel… great. So elated to not have a paper due! How are YOU doing? Not stressing/ worried about your recital I trust? Lounging away?

What?! You? Freaking out? Not the Rory I know. Why, you’re the eye of every storm… serene amidst the spiraling chaos! 😛 Yeah, either relaxed or panicked… it’ll be interesting. It’s all good though; after it’s all over, all the stress and headaches will have been worth it. Ehh, Baroque art – I feel I should know more than I do, since I did several art-history courses. But my favorite artperiod was Romanticism. Casper David Friedrich’s “Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog and Mist” is my favorite painting. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/archive/5/5b/20060809190128!Caspar_David_Friedrich_032.jpg

Of course you’re serene! Music and art; yes! Also math. That much I know. 🙂 Okay, how about this instead, “Dear Rory, you’re the Perfect Storm. Beautiful in your devestation and the wake of chaos you can cause.”
