steel rails are cold and hard
You know what makes me happy? Well, at least what made me happy today. My dad gave me his old handheld scanner to bring back to school with me. I spent the afternoon poking around online, trying to find the correct frequencies for the local trains and fire. Now I have that old familiar voice following me around and the soft hiss of the radio. Its really great to have it. And I’ve heard a little conversation on the rail lines. The detector box goes off but its not loud or annoying. So thats wonderful. And I played WoW this evening, a lot. That was actually a lot of fun. I think I need to schedule large chunks of time for WoW instead of playing for just an hour. I do so much better in large chunks of time, instead of often but not long. Anyways – it was fun. And Lu was there so we got to chat a bit. We have a “date” on Sat after the auditions for coffee and a gabfest. She and the boy broke up (its a good thing) and evidently there’s a story behind that. Hopefully by Saturday my apartment saga will have ended. Or at least be a bit more stable than right now. So I’m looking forward to the gabfest. I think I’m more looking forward to just knowing that I have friends here, people who love me and want to see me again.
Oh yeah, and Carson Daly is interviewing Richard “Mack” Mackowicz, the host of Futureweapons, a show on Discovery Channel. I’m not excited about Carson, or the fact that I’m watching his show. But Mack – oh lordy lord, Mack. There is something about guys in uniform. Once you’ve worn a uniform there is just something about the way you walk and talk and just are. And he’s bald and just goregous. Anyways – that’s my happiness of the day. Oh, he’s so damn sexy!
Ok – that was my little girlie moment. I can’t help it.
So train radio, WoW and Mack. Not a bad combo. Tomorrow I meet with Tracy and take the letter to my landlords. Then either I move across the hall, or find a new apartment and move out. Think I can do it in 2 days? You bet your ass!!
Down around the corner
A half a mile from here
You see them old trains runnin’
And you watch them disappear
Without love
Where would you be now
Without love
You know I saw Miss Lucy
Down along the tracks
She lost her home and her family
And she won’t be comin’ back
Without love
Where would you be now
Without love
Well the Illinois Central
And the Southern Central Freight
Gotta keep on pushin’ Mama
‘Cause you know they’re runnin’ late
Without love
Where would you be now – now, now, now
Without love
Where pistons keep on churnin’
And the wheels go ’round and ’round
And the steel rails are cold and hard
For the miles that they go down
Without love
Where would you be right now
Without love
Where would you be now
Long Train Runnin’ ~ Doobie Brothers
Wow, well, look at me being all confused! When you said “handheld scanner,” I was thinking about the old hand-held computer scanners where you had to hold the button and roll the scanner over the picture manually! And I was like, “Wait, it shouldn’t be making any sounds… that’s not safe!” Yeah, I’m a geek. WoW I have not played because of the addiction factor. It might be wiser to keep the 1-hour limit. I don’t want you lost to the nether worlds of digital life! And YES! Mack is Hotness. Not that I’m gay… but big, bald, muscly guys talking about hardcore weapons/ technologies… just does something to me. Hehehe! I wonder what his “Future Weapon” looks like! 😉 Enjoy the week. Good luck with the apartment. Kick some Ass! 😀
