Gone

I thought I’d write,
I thought I’d let you know
In the year since you’ve been gone,
I’ve finally let you go
And I hope you find some time to drop a note
But if you won’t
Then you won’t
And I will consider you gone

I know that you went straight to someone else
While I worked through all this sh*t here by myself
And I think that you should spend some time alone
But if you won’t
Then you won’t
And I will consider you gone

I wake up in the night
All alone and it’s alright
The chemicals are wearing off
Since you’re gone

The days go on, the lights go off and on
And nothing really matters when you’re gone
If you think that you feel nothing at all
If you don’t (If you don’t)
Then you don’t (No, you won’t)
If you won’t
Then you won’t
And I will
Then I will
Yeah, and I will consider you gone

Gone ~ Ben Folds Five

This song is by an amazing musician, Ben Folds. The amazing things he does on piano are only accented by his in your face lyrics. This song means a lot to me because it helped me get over one of my ex-boyfriends. It says excatly what I wish I could say to him. And the situation applies as well. I know that you went straight to someone else, While I worked through all this sh*t here by myself. We were together almost 10 months and not even two months after we broke up, he had a new girlfriend and four months after we broke up, he was engaged to a new girlfriend. And I was basically left to sort out what had happened all by myself. And I hope you find some time to drop a note. But if you won’t, Then you won’t. And I will consider you gone. This part of the song helped me to really just let him go and realize that if he won’t talk to me, he won’t. And I just had to let him go and consider him gone out of my life. Its a hard lesson to learn, but I learned it.
Now whenever I find myself thinking about him and wanting to talk to him again, I put this song on my stereo, crank the volume and sing it at the top of my lungs. I imagine that he can hear me and feels regret for what he did. Course he can’t, but it helps all the same.
