Mixed news day

One of my friends and co-workers passed away last night.  It was a very big shock to everybody, she had a heart attack.  The doctors are not able to tell su when exactly she had it though, some time between Monday and yesterday.  Apparently she had been having pain in her chest since Monday, but didn’t go to the doctor.  Last night, her husband got her to the ER, but it was too late.  She passed away at almost midnight last night and I got a text just after midnight letting me know.  Sad deal all around….she was almost 57 years old, way too young.

I stayed up and watched Coyote Ugly on TV last night….for the 800th time.  I have no idea why there are some movies that come on TV and I feel I have to watch them.  I have the DVD’s, can watch the uncensored, commercial free versions….yet I still watch through them on TV.  Oh well, I enjoyed it and wasn’t sleeping anyway.  I was staying up to see if I heard anything about my friend.  I did fall asleep, but it was a very restless sleep.

I have two good news’s for Mike and I though.  Our Federal refund was deposited into our checking account this morning.  YAY!  AND, we found out what our anual bonus is going to be and they are much better than the previous two years.  I think that we will both be receiving approximately 12% of our last years earnings….should be a decent chunk of change and we’ll get it next Friday.  I know we’re going to be responsible with some of it….but I also know we’ll play with some of it.  Mike wants to get our truck repainted.  It is in desparate need of it, so I agreed with that.  I’m not sure what else we’ll do, but we’ll see….and make it go as far as possible.

Oh, I remember one other thing we’re going to get.  A patio set for our back yard.  I’ve not looked yet, but I’m sure that Lowe’s and Wal-Mart are getting them in for the Spring season.  I want a nice one that will hold up for several years, not just a cheapie one that will get destroyed by our winds in no time.  I want the set with four chairs, a table, and an umbrella that we can put up and down easily.  We have a really nice gas grill on the front porch, but our back yard has a charcoal grill that someone built before we lived there.  I’d like Mike to get that set up so it is usable and then we can spend a lot of time in the yard.  The dogs can be out with us and enjoy the weather as well.  One other thing I want to do is to enclose our front porch so that Irwin can go out there without having to be on his leash.  We just have to figure out how to accomplish that.  I love to sit on my porch and watch the traffic and people.  But, Irwin gets bored when he has to be held and he will run off if he’s not on his leash.  Gracie behaves and stays right beside us when she’s not on her leash.

It’s almost 1 and I’ve not eaten lunch yet.  I probably should do that soon, huh?

I have no idea what we’re going to do this weekend.  Mike works tonight and is then off until next week.  I hope we get to grill out at least one day, but there is a chance of rain on both days so we’ll see.

I have a jillion things to get done this afternoon, so I better get at it.  I hope you all have a great weekend!  Take care of yourselves!

Too bad you can’t get Grace to teach Irwin how to stay put. I guess she doesn’t have any sheepherder dog in her. 😉

I’ve been looking at patio furniture too…just dreaming, really. Here’s a site I found on-line. They say only $2.95 shipping and the prices seem reasonable. Of course, you can’t sit on the chairs. But it was fun to look at all the different styles and choose what I’d buy, if I was going to. http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Patio-Furniture/714/cat.html

Sorry again to hear about your friend…what a shame 🙁 Great news about the tax return and the bonus, thats awesome. We are finishing our taxes tonight. We get MUCH more this year now that we are married, going to use it towards bills and savings, which is boring but needed.

I’m so sorry about your friend. 🙁 Great news about the tax return and bonus! It’s such a wonderful feeling to have some extra money to play with.

Sorry about your co-worker… you’re lucky you both get bonuses – John hasn’t had one in three years, this year will make it four. 🙁 (huggles)

I’m sorry about your friend. Yes, too young. You’ll have fun spending that money a bunch of ways, in your imagination before you actually get it.

Oh yes, ryn – yes, having Auel’s books on your Nook would be great!

RYN: apparently guinea pigs are very socialable animals therefore its not fair to just have one…you need at least two…either same gender or under a year old so they can breed. If any older than a year its dangerous to breed them. ( learned all that from my expert friends….*smiles*) Anyway, cats or dogs, however gentle, will kill them. hugs P

How sad about your friend, way too young!!! Good news about the tax refund, mine was in there last Friday!!! Hope you DO get to grill[hugs]

February 18, 2011

It is hard to find patio sets that sustain out winds. Ugh!! I hope you find one and I am, so sorry to hear about your friend.

February 18, 2011

I’m so sorry to hear about your friend 🙁 *big hugs* Great news about your tax and bonus though!

That’s so very sad. 🙁

So sorry about your friend. *hugs* I’d like to get a gas grill someday. I’m not a big fan of the charcoal-grilled flavor. Have a nice weekend!

That is way too young! been praying. How is her family making out? We looked into patio furniture last year but we want a comfy conversational set with full padded seats and we are not sure they will be able to withstand the rain so we didn’t get one. Hope you find that you like. We’ll look again this year, hopefully.

Nice regarding your bonuses!

I am sure it will not be long before they are pushing spring furniture at all the usual outlets. Even here, since most of our big chains are American-owned, we end up following the US marketing schedules in spite of our spring still being many weeks away.

I’m so sorry about the loss of your friend. Why do people wait when they have chest pain? Such a shame.
