Not such a great start
We rang in the new year with a score of our fabulous friends at the magnificent home of a 90-year-old widow lady out in the North Ranch. Lots of good food and a toast or two, along with many silly and deep conversations and ideas to solve the country’s problems and watching the ball come down at 10:00, 11:00 and 12:00. .
New Year’s day was quiet as Papa and I decided to forego standing in the long lines* to purchase our legal marijuana in downtown Denver (just kidding) and instead stayed home and worked on our new 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle that we got for Christmas.
The big disappointment came Thursday when I expectantly sat down at the computer to see what was happening with everybody in OD land…and waited…and waited…and got that time-out screen. It’s good today, though!
A little later I went off to the club to play bridge with the girls. Sunglasses are a must in mile-high Colorado, especially in the wintertime when the sun’s rays hit us at a low angle and reflect any snow and ice that might be lurking with a blinding glare. I pulled out my sunglasses and put my regular glasses in the case, which I put into my jacket pocket, along with two sets of keys and my coin purse. When I got to the club, I didn’t have my glasses. They must be in the car, or else I never got them into my pocket at home. I suffered thru four hours of bridge with my sunglasses and a visual aura (not to mention my usual poor cards!) before checking to see if my glasses were in the car. I couldn’t find them, so I must have left them home. Nope. Not here. I sent Papa back to recheck the car. Still no glasses. I must have kicked them out in the parking lot at the club. Dug my newest old pair out of a dresser drawer and they seem to be working for me, so I guess I can get by if they don’t turn up.
It’s supposed to be warm and windy here today. I’m sorry so many of you are having bad weather. We are looking for snow over the weekend, but not the awful storms. We have decided not to make the 300 mile drive to my cousin’s memorial service on Saturday.
I got the tree down and everything boxed up but the boxes are still stacked in the corner waiting to be hauled down stairs to the storage room. The puzzle is still displayed on the card table taking up space in the (not large) great room. My giant poinsettia is dropping red and green leaves all over the place. I think it’s time to do some housecleaning around here today. And laundry. The holidays are over. Time to get back into the routine…
*Edit: They say on the news that there was over $1 million dollars in sales of pot (at $34 for 1/8 ounce) on the first day of legal retail here in Denver before the shops ran out of inventory. To purchase, you have to show a driver’s license (which is not necessary to vote!!!) and it’s cash only, due to some kind of bank law.
pot will be legal in all the states soon and you will be able to grow a bit for yourself just like you can brew certain amounts of beer and wine at home. treat it like alcohol… control it, tax it, treat it like alcohol with the same restrictions and penalties just like alcohol. colorado is just ahead of the rest of the states. i hope you find your glasses. that’s why i have my glassesto see with and sunglasses all in one pair. transitions lens are great. first thing i put on in the morning and the last thing i take off at night. staying in the single digits for highs today. tonight will in the double digits for lows. i ‘think’ it’s gonna warm up a bit this weekend. i sure hope so. it’s so cold. take care,

MJ like Healthcare costs citizens billions whether we recognize it or not. (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/04/20/marijuana-prohibition-costs_n_3123397.html). When the truth is presented in its entirety then we can seek lower costs and equality. People can legally buy and use MJ and it will lower the costs to the population at large. That works for me. We’ll be in Denver for the Avs this wknd!!

Christmas is still here in my house… been too sick to take it down. But, that just means I’ve had more evenings to sit and look at my colorful tree 🙂 I think it’s a shame about the pot. I truly believe that was the downfall of my marriage… he was always stoned. Be prepared for a lot more car accidents. They’re not any better than drunks. BTW… you do have to show a driver’s license to vote in my state.

I heard that it was $400 per ounce and I hope everybody that bought that ounce has a job, a paycheck and does not live off of assistance from anybody else. I sure hope you find your glasses.
