Second full week in August
My calendar is not too bad this week. Dr. appointment tomorrow…my 6-month check up… Bridge three times, but I don’t have to entertain.
A couple of grandkids’ birthdays.
Rusty’s was really last week, but with everybody so busy we weren’t able to get together. We’ll be doing that today. That guy is 16 already, and way-up-there tall. When I first joined OD he wasn’t quite four and I called him "Little Red?", remember? He’s going into 10th grade and will be driving himself to school in what used to be "my" Ford Crown Vic. We still have possession of the car, but it has been signed over to his dad and as soon as he finishes his driving school (within the next couple of days, I think) it goes to their house. Now he is all worried that I won’t have anything to drive. He’s such a sweet boy, er, young man….
The other birthday is Thursday. Our granddaughter, DJ, will be 19. She’s off to college to study performing arts in two short weeks. She is so talented and beautiful. And, get this!, she has applied for a job as a hockey referee in her college town. Yes, she can skate with the best of them. I don’t know what level she will be supervising, but am thinking probably little kids…maybe high school girls.
In other news, the monsoon continues to stir up downpours every afternoon. We know we are lucky to not be getting as much rain as so many of our neighbors, even though we complain about what we do get. We should be thankful for the moisture.
I need to run through the shower in case Papa wants to make it to church this morning… Have a good week, everybody.
Have an enjoyable week.

I’m learning like you just how fast our grands’ grow up on us…it makes me sad when I think about it. Doing my best to enjoy each day with them just so I don’t regret missing out. You’re an inspiration on doing that! *HUG*

Enjoy it while it lasts. Am 99. This house used to be alive with the happy sounds of wife and kids. Wife passed away fifteen years ago and the kids have families of their own. It’s just me, by myself now, and weeks go by that way, except for people I see on occasional shopping trips.-and the family reunions we have here for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and my birthdays. Time goes by so fast… I’m glad you get to enjoy it. That was sweet of you to give your car to your grandson 🙂

My grands are still young, but it amazes me how quickly I’ve gotten a 1st grader and a 2nd grader.

it doesn’t take long for kids or grandkids to get big, does it? Time goes so quickly.

You cracked me up with the last sentence. “I need to run through the shower..”
