Just itiching to try (EDIT)
Last night at our senior club (Fab 50′) meeting, our program was put on by a member who is a retired art teacher and very talented water colorist. She showed us some of her work and talked about things like technique, paper and brushes. She had asked people to bring in something they had made so we could appreciate other’s talents as well. There was hand work (needlepoint, embroidery, knitting, etc.), literary work, jewelry (glass, silver, bead work) and a couple of pieces of very nice sculpture. Needless to say, I loved every single piece there and have tried most of these arts and crafts at one time or another. Time to get back to something useful….where shall I start?
EDIT* I’ve been ask what did I took for show & tell. Due to my recent down-sizing project, I didn’t seem to have much left around here that I made. All those dozens of baby afghans… thought I had a couple still here, but if I do, they are in the storage locker. The rest have gone to wrap up little babies. Paintings? There are a couple still here, but I wasn’t about to show them along side Phyllis’s. I finally found a table cloth that I embroidered back in 1975 while recovering from hip surgery. That’s what I took.
That’s really neat that she’s into art and things like that. As a matter of fact, I am too! I’ve begun doing diary altering (making artwork out of my diaries) sometime last year. I may not be a Picasso or anything, but I have fun with it!

I love that idea and would have loved to see all of the people’s crafting and artist talents. What did you take for the show and tell?

I used to do all sorts of handwork. I recently revived some macrame to make Arlen a hanger for his asparagus fern.
