Fun Valentines Day
Because it was the regular day for our little bridge foursome, we girls went ahead and played. It was snowing throughout the afternoon, and quite hard when it was time to go over to Barb’s, probably seven or eight miles away so Papa drove me over. Nice and cozy and a good day for being "in" with friends.
She is such an organizer! A few months ago we decided, on her suggestion, to go out to dinner on this Valentines Day, altogether, with our husbands and then go back to her house and have another session of bridge, including the men. It worked out fine.
We had an early dinner at Texas Road House. It was soooooo good! Then back up to her place for cards and dessert. She made a wonderful chocolate cake using no sugar nor flour (she had Papa in mind)* with ice cream and fresh raspberry sauce. The cake was more like brownies than cake…dense and delicious. We were home and in bed in time for the ten o’clock news.
Some of the husbands had not met each other and didn’t really know us wives either, so it was a good time to get a little better acquainted. All are interesting people with varied backgrounds. I can see this working into another loop of special friendships.
