This little piggy…
Aloha…
My back yard touches the border of the Harris beach state park… and I have written in the past of the myriad of both animals and birds that visit me…
Saturday night my most recent (and unwanted) visitors… were a family of feral pigs… a sow and three piglets…
They spent part of that night rooting in my yard… digging up the woodchips that I had laid down as ground cover… most likely searching for lawn grubs…
They returned Sunday night… and again on Monday…
So… after raking the woodchips back into place… I got out my bottle of ammonia… and spritzed the self same chips with a light dose…
I work up Tuesday morning… no dug up woodchips… and everything remained fine again this morning…
I guessed right… the pigs are repelled by the smell (and taste) of the ammonia… problem solved…!
It is a cool… very rainy… and very windy night here on the southern coast of Oregon… a good night for a fire… listen to Hawaiian music… and read my book…
Thanks for drifting by… and for your continued notes to me…
Aloha oe…
Clever that!

glad they’re not bothering you anymore…..but imagine it was quite cool to see them there. I can relate w/our bears around here…..causes damage often but it brings you back to reality and the world.

Good that it did the trick, hopefully they’ll have moved onto pastures new. 🙂 Turned pretty chilly here in Atlantic Canada now too.

Good for you thinking of using the ammonia! Glad it worked! We would have had pork sausage.
