Sick
I’m sick. I had been in denial all day Monday, telling myself it was allergies from all the dust I kicked up cleaning on Sunday. We were out playing pool last night and it seemed I was becoming more and more congested, then as we were walking around the grocery store getting stuff for the week it started to really hit me. So I went home and took a hot bath, had a nice cup of tea, downed some Nyquil and went to bed.
It hasn’t been too bad so far, I honestly feel fine other than some fatigue, a mild sore throat, and some pretty bad congestion. The congestion is the worst part of it, but I’ve been able to go about doing stuff here at home. I did almost break down and take a nap at one point but just as I started to drift off my neighbor called.
My husband’s family is supposed to be making a trip down to to the pub to see me sing this Saturday, so I hope I’m recovered and my voice is okay by then. Keeping my fingers crossed. I’m really excited to have everyone come down, including my niece, who just started learning guitar herself. I’m excited for her to see what she’ll be able to do herself pretty soon. Most likely right on the very same stage. 🙂 I actually went with her and her parents to her first concert last week, my husband was supposed to go too, but he had the cold I have now. Anyway, we saw Dar Williams. She’s a female folk singer from Northampton, MA. My niece was absolutely glued to watching her the whole time she played. During a break in the show we had a discussion about nerves and shyness and being on stage. My niece is really shy, so she’s a little unsure about the performance aspect, even though she feels like it’s something she wants to try (she’s 10, btw). Her Dad was explaining to her that it’s different when you get up on stage and do something you love. He was using me as an example because I am really quiet and shy too, but I still get up there and do it. So now it would be the perfect follow-up for her to come down and see me do my performance in front of a live audience. I’m always nervous as hell but fortunately people tell me I don’t seem it at all.
Anyway, that’s it for now, I reckon.
Seems to be a lot of irritated throats going around. I know I have one. Claritin is keeping my congestion in check. And Nasacort.. Clearly I am dependent on drugs.
I hope you’re good to go on Saturday.

My advice is to get to your doctor ASAP> Then do as suggested. I made my cold much worse by delaying treatment.
