Steak, Mole and TMJ

“The greatest good you can do for another is not just to share your riches, but to reveal to him his own.” ~Benjamin Disraeli

Okay, so I’ve been a complete bum the past two days. Tuesday I went to my internship and got off early, only to go to the doctor. The doctor said that I must have a blocked Eustachian tube. So she gave me a decongestant in hopes that it would unblock said tube. It didn’t work and I spent all day Wednesday in bed or curled up on the sofa with the hot water bottle to my ear. I emailed my instructors and told them I had an ear infection, easier to explain. Well, I woke up this morning and called the doctor’s office to make a return appointment, the decongestant wasn’t doing a thing and the doc said to come back if it didn’t feel better soon.

I called my internship and told them I had the flu. Easier than say, “I have the ear infection from hell and I’m not going to be able to make it in today.” I went back to the doctor and she said my ear is perfect. So they diagnosed me with TMJ. Oh the excitement never ceases. My ear hurts so bad because apparently I have been grinding my teeth in my sleep. I never thought grinding one’s teeth could cause this much pain in one’s ears. The doctor told me to get a mouth guard for sleeping at night so I won’t grind my teeth. Now I will be the big nerd that gets too sleep with a mouth guard. Oh, how hot does that make me? Who wants to make out with me now? Yeah, thought so.

Other than that I did make steak and mole last night for dinner. It had been a while since I had made that and it sounded good. That and the steaks needed to be cooked or they were going to go bad. The mole was good. I realized I need to make that more often.

I did drag my carcass out of my flat yesterday to go to the career fair at the Union. It wasn’t bad. There were some really good companies there, and some companies that I have no interest in. Sorry Abercrombie and Fitch, I don’t want to fit into your mold of pretty people, therefore I would never work for you. Can we say, cookie cut outs? It was funny to watch their representative and how he interacted with the students that talked to him.

I think I might drive home on Friday. My parents were thinking about coming up, but they aren’t going to be able to. My mother really wants to see me. She will never come right out and say, “come home this weekend,” but from the vibe she is sending out, I probably should. Who know’s, we shall see. It means I would have to drive back here either really early Sunday morning or Saturday evening. I haven’t decided yet.

I think I am going to go take a nap and try to get this pain killer to work quicker. This entry really is quite whiny. Hopefully, it won’t be in the next entry.

I grind my teeth sometimes too. I don’t know I do, but I’ve been told so. I’m still up for some make out sessions. 😉 RYN: You’re right. I just refuse to be one of them.

I hope your TMJ gets under control with that mouth guard. It could be worse…you could have sleep apnea and have to sleep with a CPAP machine!

I don’t know that I could sleep in a mouth gaurd. UGH Hope you feel much better soon. Any type of sickness and hurting like that is enough to drain you of energy and make you feel like total CRAP! Feel all better soon!

Hope your ear gets better! TMJ is kind of insidious, in that they really don’t know anything that can treat it. I’m going home this weekend too! We have so much in common! lol

A whiny entry is fine, you’re ill, you’re entitled to whine. And now, having gone and looked them up, I now know what TMJ and mole are. Reading your diary is an education 🙂 Hope you’re feeling better soon xx

tmj can be very painful. i hope you get to feeling better real soon.

My dentist informed me today after filling a hole in one of my existing fillings (caused by ginding) that my insurance company has approved paying for a mouth guard for me. We are two sexy chicks. 😉

RYN: How can I turn down a 9 year old girl, you know. 😉 Have a good weekend.

Hope the TMJ is brought under control with the mouth guard. RYN: I love the zoo, have the pass to get in free. It is a nice safe place to go walk also. Have a great weekend.
