DePhoMo 7: “things in nature”

a few months ago, we went up to Seattle to visit with Eric’s brother, wife and kids. and something about that particular trip made us both fall a little bit in love with Seattle. if we didn’t have family and friends and still love so much about where we live, we would have packed our bags and moved the minute we got home.

love, love, love Seattle. and can not wait to go back again.

theme for today’s photos is “things in nature”.

and since one must go a bit out of one’s way to find a lot of nature in Los Angeles, i’m going to use a photo from our trip to Seattle! see how i did that? how clever of me.

i kid.

anyway, the first night we were there, we met my brother and sister in law and my awesome niece and nephew at a restaurant that overlooked an area of Puget Sound. (like how i’ve sort of claimed them as my own instead of giving credit to E who is actually blood related to them? i’m so considerate too!)

i bet this area is called something specific but i don’t remember. it’s right near the Aquarium and i want to say sort of below Pikes Place market, but i’m not sure if it’s actually properly south of the Market.

regardless, it was a fucking STUNNING sunset. unreal. just unlike anything i’ve seen here.

i hardly edited this photo at all. no photoshopping or lightrooming beyond a crop and adjusting the white balance. those colors were actually there, like that! even E’s iPhone managed to get an insane photo, too, although he took his a bit earlier and had even better colors.

i set the exposure to be at roughly one second. the sun had set and it was already almost completely dark out, so i kept the shutter open just a touch to let enough light in. unfortunately i didn’t have a tripod with me or something high enough to set the camera on for the longer exposure, so it’s a bit out of focus. i still love it, though.

how can you NOT want to see this everyday?? i totally heart Seattle.

i love seattle too. gorgeous pic.

Seattle is beautiful. Washington also has no state income tax, so its not a bad place to be. My uncle used to live in Vancouver, WA and they would do all their shopping in Portland so they didnt pay sales tax either.
