My mother was turned down, though her doctors considered her disabled. She has serious breathing problems from working years in a cotton mill, an irreversible colostomy and compromised immune system due to her body contracting a mild form of a “flesh eating virus” after surgery, that keeps her in and out of the hospital. It took her YEARS of battle to get the denial reversed. 🙁
She can’t lift anything heavy (she gets hernias easily due to the many surgeries and virus destroying so much of her within) and walking tires her out. And I won’t even go into all the meds she HAS to take. Just because she could fold towels and cook a light supper, the judge felt she was able to still work. I’m serious…
Dakk! Don’t dismay, Social Security AUTOMATICALLY denies everyone on their first application, you’d be amazed at how many people take it at face value and give up. Stick to your guns, it’s not a denial . . . it’s a weeding out the nontenacious masses who aren’t willing to jump through the beaucratic hoops. You’ll win, keep your chin up and file your appeal. =)
don’t know why they are such asses about disabillity. my mom is on her second turn with a judge. i know its a pain in the as, but you just have to be patient.
