Should Children Witness Childbirth?

Due to a power outage, only one paramedic responded to the call. The house was very, very dark, so the paramedic asked Katelyn, a 3-year-old girl, to hold a flashlight high over her mommy so he could see while he helped deliver the baby. Very diligently, Katelyn did as she was asked.

Heidi pushed and pushed, and after a little while, Corbin was born. The paramedic lifted him by his little feet and spanked him on his bottom.

Corbin began to cry. The paramedic then thanked Katelyn for her help and asked the wide-eyed 3-year old what she thought about what she had just witnessed. Katelyn quickly responded, “He shouldn’t have crawled in there in the first place, smack his ass again!”

First entry for today

That noter makes me so mad. To go on to someone elses diary and leave a rude note. And be a coward to leave it unsigned. I cant stand it. I thought it was very funny!! I had to laugh out loud!!!!!! 🙂

That was a really cute joke. 🙂 I was afraid this would be some kind of über political entry, and I was going to be all like, “I saw my brother and my sister both born naturally, so anyone who thinks differently should STFU.” But it wasn’t that entry, so I didn’t leave that note. 😉

LOL!!

LOL I thought that was funny. Whoever wrote that unsigned note is a moron who needs to get a life themselves. Grow a backbone and sign your name! (not you sweetie, the noter)

LOL! i thought it was funny from a toddlers perspective! that first noter needs to get a life. what a coward to not leave it signed.

more disturbing, i think, is that a 3-year old knows the word “ass.” 😛

May 4, 2004

That was HILARIOUS!!! If that is true, it is just another example of how kids say the darndest things! 🙂

haaaa that cute!

LOL!!Both my older sons witnessed their little brother’s birth. I think it was a wonderful gift, it gave them “ownership” of “Our” baby. One’s first words about Two were “He looks like a Rat. Rat’s are yucky” complete with sage-seeming shake of the head. Interestingly Rats are Two’s favorite animal, and we have two of them that One likes also. I guess rats are no longer yucky…

LOL at the joke. I’ll kick that anonymous noter’s ass if I find out who s/he is. Meantime, you may want to switch to OD/OD+ notes, or signed notes only. I think it depends on the child’s age. Celi was at her godmother’s, I think, when Raul was born; they were 7 and 4 when Bailey came along, and that, IMHO, is too young to see your mom in that kind of pain. But a teen, why not.

That’s cute, but kids will say it as they see it.

I love that joke…it is sooo funny.

May 4, 2004

LOL! That is funny!

May 4, 2004

ha, i was all ready to leave a super-political note about how i saw my little sister born naturally, at home, when i was six years old and how all it did was make me want to become a midwife…but that joke is hilarious.
