New Bike(pics) and more
Dear Diary,
It’s been a while. I’ve been pretty busy this summer. The first two weeks went slow but once I started to work, OH BOY! The summer job went fast and it was a real learning experience. I led 3 camps….3-D sculpture, Construction and Spy Camp. I may have a week or two left depending on who enrolls.
While there I met two women who lead drumming groups. They are really great ladies and told me about some drumming groups that meet twice a month near-by. As I spoke to them the dark haired woman told me she thought she knew me. Then she called me by my maiden name and I was shocked especially when she told me who she was. She looks very different now and it was so nice to reminence about our teens.

This is their website. They gave me their CD which was so nice. I plan on attending their drumming circle in Aug and Sept. I will also attend Saturday of their weekend retreat. They were there to teach the girl scouts to play drums…it sound great and I danced for 3 days LOL.
I also bought a new bike.
Aluminum frame, Carbon Steel forks, seat post and handle bar stem. It has Ultegra gears and bontrager wheels. Single touch shift and Shimano pedal system.
It was on the expensive side, but I have ridden it twice so far. It is very light and FAST! I love it. I rode 25 miles both rides and it was nothing compared to my mountain bike. As you notice there aren’t any pedals which I opted for. I instead, under recommendation, bought a pedal system with clips and shoes. It took a about half an hour to get used to the clips but what a difference.
I will be riding with a local group on Saturday morning. I’m looking forward to riding and meeting new friends.
Today I took my mother to the beach and had a nice restful day which explains why I am still up LOL.
We came back here and had dinner and rested. I took her home around 7:30 and came home and rested more ….
Tomorrow CookiePuss will come over to do my hair and go to the beach. The water is nice and warm and it hasn’t been terribly hot at the ocean.
Monday morning I will be leaving for NYS and the Peace Gathering at the PeaceWeavers. I will be living in a tent for 7 days.
I’m really looking forward to the week’s activities especially having a Buddhist monk creating a sand mandala ceremony. There will be many Katrina victims there who will benefit from letting folks know their plight.
When I return I will work for a week or two then back to SKOOL. YIKES!!
Peace,
LYB

Beautiful bike…I’m envious! I’ve used toe clips forever on my petals, but people I’ve talked to love the new system.. Have a great week with the PeaceWeavers….
