Easter and more
Dear Diary,
I returned from New York State Saturday night from staying with the Peaceweavers. I drove up Wednesday after work in teeming rain and fog. It was quite a ride. It just poured a river of water the whole trip!
I arrived around 10pm and glad to stop driving. We fasted from Thursday to Sunday morning. The juice is so delicious and nutritious that I really didn’t think much about food the entire time.
I have been having some "issues" with my son and the wedding but by talking it out with the peaceweavers I straightened out my head and my perception of how things are and to be.
I understand more about how my son is feeling and experiencing before such a big event in his life. I may have been a little selfish in my thinking but I had to think about how my son is feeling at this age and not hang onto the past. I listened to some of the younger peaceweavers who married with divorced parents and it was revealing. I think things will be ok.
We had a sweat lodge on Saturday afternoon. It was hot; so hot in fact that I almost had to leave. It was a pretty heavy sweat lodge but I made it through. I was thinking about leaving for home a few times but I am glad I stayed. I do love it up there in the mountains and the peace and quite of the country. The peaceweavers are very good people and extremely dedicated to global health.
Sunday we ate in silence and the food was DELICIOUS. They are vegan but they can really cook some tasty food. I have used some of their recipes and actually I made a red pepper salad dressing that I brought to my sister’s house yesterday and they all loved it.
I drove home Sunday and stopped by The Mohican Outdoor Center to visit with Dave. He runs the center where I used to do trail maintenance. I loved getting up in the morning, climbing up to the ridge and having my coffee and breakfast there. It was nice to be able to stop from such a long drive. It was nice chatting with Dave. I continued the ride home stopping at the A&P for items I needed to make a salad for Easter dinner at my sister’s. I got home around 8:30 after leaving the Peaceweavers at 12:30. I unpacked the car and just dropped everything at the top of the stairs and there they still sit lol. I will put everything away today lol.
Yesterday I went to my sisters for Easter dinner. It was a blast! My brother in laws father was in rare form and I laughed until my sides ached. He was flirting up a storm with me. We all got a major kick out of it. My mom was having such a good time as well as my sister and my brother in law. Her son’s came home after working all day. They were tired but came down and sat with us for a while. Her younger son is adorable. He is a senior in highschool and what a sweet kid. He LOVES football and if he could play in college he will. He is small but he is in very good shape. He went to Italy this past summer and he sat with me showing me all the pictures. It was very nice.
We brought out coffee and dessert but I was so full, I couldn’t eat anymore. My sister and her husband made this cheesecake that looked out of this world. It was nice to see the two of them in the kitchen working side by side.
We all left around 8:30 to let my sister relax for work today. Thank goodness I have off today. It’s been a very eventful week and weekend.
I will be going back to work tomorrow which will ok. I have been thinking about retirement a lot lately. I have to put in 2 years but I am thinking of finishing out this contract which will bump up my pension a tad. I will have to see and see where I will go after that.
Life changes are good, not always fun, but good.
Peace,
LYB

Weddings are tough things because of the emotions involved. I am glad that I don’t have to even think of being at a wedding with my ex at the moment. The Peace weavers sound like a very interesting group. I’m glad that you enjoyed your Easter.

I can’t say enough on how much I’m enjoying my retirement. it is funny now how it seems those 13 months I worked in KY are just a dream now… the way things look I’ll be on the turnpike headed north from Philadelphia through New Jersey on Friday morning the 11th. Have not heard back from cousin Criss in Freehold about a visit. She has always had an excuse for me not stopping by the last few times I tried to arrange a visit.. however this might be the last chance I have to see her considering her health and age..

Aloha… Ryn: Then you really understand… just how wonderful it felt…! By the way… do you work at it…? As I don’t think I ever read about it in your journal… Aloha oe…

“a little high” perhaps, my reference for this was a 1 minute life pose and i was more intent on the foreshortening of the arm and hand than the bits,..o.o

“drew that in 60 seconds?” no the posed drawing was about 45 min to an hour, but the pose reference was a 60 second life sketch, when we had the life drawing sessions here we would have the model do 1 minute poses for the first half hour as a warm-up exercise,..o.o
