School Dream

Dear Diary,
I am not going to school today.  I didn’t sleep well last night and I have so much to do that I did not do this weekend.  School has been a drain with this stupid testing and how much this test is under lock and key, silence maintained at all times and students under tremendous stress!  Thank god Wednesday is the last day this week.
I had a dream about school and it was weird, but apparent that the weeks in preparation for this STUPID test has been stressful for us all.
My dream took place in school with my little (big) art cart trotting down the hallway to get to my classes on time.  I was going down the 5th and 6th grade hallway when I noticed DC’s doorway was very narrow and different.  The district was trying desperately to fix up the school so they started with her room.  The walls were stucco as in adobe stucco lol.  The room was smaller and had little room for desks and students.  The teacher was upset and thought how little this had to do with educating children and all that was being done was creating an "appearance".  I went across the hall to SB’s room and they were still working on it.  The room was green stucco and S was sitting in the middle of an empty room, meditating.  He just looked at me, shrugged his shoulders and continued to meditate.  There wasn’t a desk or paper in sight.  The room was so small that maybe 10 desks would fit there.  The materials they were using to "fix" up the classes were cheap and would eventually "degrade" in a short time.  I couldn’t believe my eyes and thought what a waste of time this all was.
Well can you tell that school has been on my mind?  In reality the "silence" in the test areas were ridiculous!!  I was spoken to several times for raising my voice in a class room WITH the door closed.  Two 6th grade girls were creating a disturbance in class and I had had it so I "raised" my voice to tell them to sit down and continue to work.  I really don’t think I raised my voice that loud, but the vice principal happened to be walking by and opened the door to tell me to lower my voice.  I rolled my eyes and thought, "this will surely make them fail this test.  Several teachers were "spoken" to for walking too loudly in the test area.  They took off their shoes and walked in their stocking feet after that rolling their eyes.  I think this is just over the top!!!!  I stressed about pushing the cart too loudly.  I was at the other end of the hall and I was spoken to for opening the door.  ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME???  The kids were not allowed out of the classroom unless they were about to wet their pants.
Our guidance councilor was ready to pull out her hair because she is in charge of all the testing.  I felt really bad for her.  I think we are going out for a drink tomorrow after school.  She needs it!
I got a lovely thank you note from my future daughter in law that was very sweet.  She has a good heart.
She still talks about the towel cake I made with the two wedding rag dolls.  I’m glad I made them.

towel cake and rag dolls I made.

I’m getting ready to go back up to the Peaceweavers Wednesday after school.  I will return on either Sunday or Monday.

Well I am getting ready to call in for a sub.
Peace,
LYB

“notes private?” because i seemed to have developed a stalker/s who liked leaving notes for the benefit of other readers, this thwarts that game, and i’ve found that if someone has something to say, they’ll say it no matter what,..o.o

We have testing in May and June is specific core subjects. It doesn’t get that silly….close but not that close. Since I teach Grade 6 and very little is determined by these tests, it is a complete waste of money in my opinion.

i don’t know how silly things get at blake’s school when they have those standardized tests. he usually does pretty good on them anyway. i hate that they teach to the end result of those tests. take care,

You deserve a long weekend of peace!! The cake and dolls are so cute:)

I spent too much of my schooling being taught tests… in the long run nobody wins but it looks good on paper. Have a great weekend at the retreat… you deserve it…
