Yes, it’s been a while

Let me start off by apologizing and hoping I didn’t make anyone think I dropped off the face of the earth. I really have been trying to get my life on track, and I just now feel like I’m in a good place for writing again. I’ve got good news, and bad. I’ll start with the bad.

First off, this bit of bad news MUST NOT be referenced on Facebook for anyone that has me added there. Period, end of story, public reference will be deleted because I don’t know what other family members have been told yet. Last week my mother told me that her doctor says there’s a 90% chance she’s got lung cancer. Her previous doctor had not informed her of the changes on her x-rays over a two year period, and when the new doctor noted it, she advised my mother to get a lawyer and file for malpractice. Let me start off by saying that it’s small and can be treated with chemo for now. However, when my mother stays informed about her health and asks for explanations and the doctor doesn’t give any, he deserves this. Due to this, my mother once again in her life has to endure chemo and surgery. The thing that scares me most about this is knowing that lung cancer is one of the truly incurable cancers. You can treat it, but it never truly goes away. It doesn’t help that my mother is a smoker, hopefully this will convince her to finally quit.

Good news bit number one: although it’s seasonal for Easter, I am currently working as the assistant manager for the Easter Bunny photo booth at Lloyd Center and as a bunny at Washington Square. I won’t lose unemployment benefits (I pick up right where I left off); this is good experience for my resume; it’s better money for a few weeks than unemployment; and it gets me out of the house. The only downside is that anything requiring me to be awake before 10:00 AM is early o’clock in the freaking morning for me as my natural sleep cycle is roughly 2:00 AM to 10:00 AM.

Good news bit number two: this also needs to maintain Facebook silence, as a person I’ve got on my friends list still has ties to my husband’s current job. Andrew is taking the CNA 2 classes starting April 23rd, which will allow him to hopefully be in a hospital job in 6 months or so. The largest concern with that was phrasing the time off request so his employer doesn’t suspect what he’s up to, because if they do they will find a reason to fire him and it’s 90% likely that it won’t be legitimate. They’ve got a nasty reputation with the Oregon Employment Department for being a bunch of lying bastards (at least two people we know personally have had issues, and we know of several more beyond that) but we don’t want to chance it. Most employers would be happy that people are furthering their skills especially when it would be of benefit to them. Not this place.

In the end, I’m hoping to hold myself accountable for writing more as it does have its benefits.

Your mother DOES have every right to sue and sue HUGE! I will keep her in my prayers as she undergoes the treatment and gives this doctor his due for what truly IS malpractice! Praying for Andrew as he moves forward in his career. đŸ™‚

im so sorry to read about your moms cancer. I hope she does quit smoking and that the treatment works. Yes, she needs to sue that other doc for malpractice.
