On losing weight.
Whenever I read that people are having a hard time losing weight, I want to say,
“Have you tried 30 minutes weight-bearing exercise 3x a week, and 30 minutes cardiovascular exercise 3x a week?”
But I imagine it would either fall on deaf ears, or I’d just get yelled at. Hey, it IS the starting recipe for fat loss. I mean, if you’re already doing that and you need to kick it up a notch, THAT is when you whip out masochistic techniques and crank up your activity level. Hard to tell what level people are at.
Instead, I just keep my mouth shut. Most people don’t want to hear about a squat/push-up/pull-up complex followed by a series of sprints, followed by interval training. And all that jive. That’s, you know, hard work.
Also: You can’t outtrain a bad diet.
They get upset because they know you are right.

isn’t it 80% what you eat and the rest genetics and exercise? So if I can’t get on a new healthy way of eating isn’t that just wasting my time? Or not? I will listen to you…
Warning Comment
Also I can probably do both of those things on my WII Fit or Wii Active….Or do you think one needs a gym?

AND — eating the right foods (diet is a HUGE HUGE HUGEEEEE portion!) and STICKING WITH IT. Everyone loses a lot the first week, then it tapers off, and within a month people usually plateau. My motto: “When it gets hard, that’s when it matters the most.” Everyone has a day they don’t feel like going to the gym, or sticking to their meal plan (YES I SAID PLAN!). THAT is when it’s mostimportant.

The more I witness the lives of the overweight people in my life, the more I buy into the “genetics” thing. I mean, shit, my sister-in-law eats less than me, and she has just as active a lfiestyle. We’re almost the same height. She’s almost double my weight. I just don’t understand it.

Nah, I think they’d get upset because they are set in their ways and don’t need a reminder that they aren’t trying hard enough. 😉 Sadly, a person can lose weight without exercising AT ALL. I’m not saying that’s the right way to do it, but if a person can count calories, that’s all you really need to do. I wish diet didn’t account for so much of our body weight… I’d be all set if it were just about getting a good workout!

I know what you are saying about weight training. The wii fit and active does have some resistance exercises but like you said no real weight bearing. I know what to do .. it’s just getting up to do it. Thanks for the advice! 🙂

RYNS: I have already bought stuff to incorporate a more high protein low carb type of eating. I know I tend to eat a lot of high carb convience foods and use kids, family as a excuse but we ALL need to have a balanced meal on our plates so no more excuses. As for exercise..I guess I just need to get up and go. Its been cold out, so I don’t know I did best at fitness classes at the gym —>

<—particularly Spin and Weight training type of group exercise with the weights involved. Group exercise is my favorite way. I truly feel I should spend the money I waste in fast food and crap in a gym membership. I did well with it before and tended to eat a lot better as well. 69 is great and I have ONLY ever been on top for that. I have not been brave enough yet to do it with current –>

<–husband probably insecure to my extra 30 lbs or so…well more incentive to get on the weight loss wagon! 😀

Ryn:: I wouldn’t even know how to begin with that. For my purposes I think a little better diet and some more activity would suffice. I am not trying to be some athlete or compete, just drop some weight and be healthier. I can understand your position I am just not that driven or that competitive with myself. I give myself props for any exercise I end up doing LOL.
Warning Comment
yes, fat people are fat for a reason. exercise sucks.
Warning Comment
I want to gain weight. I’m underweight. :/ This is getting cliched, but enlighten me. Ryn: You’re welcome! 🙂 And I truly meant that! Not just in a flattery way. By me paying you a surprise visit I meant the rain paying you a surprise visit (my name means rain). Also, thanks for expanding the acronym. :3

RYN: I WISH I could have the mindset of eating for “survival”, and not because I enjoy it so much. Again, I hate to point the finger, but I blame part of this on my environment growing up. I was thin to the point of my high school counselor being concerned that I had an eating disorder (when there just wasn’t enough to eat at home). Five years after I moved out and was living on my own, I had reached a weight that was almost overweight for my height. Anyhow, now I’m just rambling. It’s all about finding an individual happy medium of nutrition and exercise.

Well actually, I did leak from my vagina. Post-period blood.

All that jargon flew over my head. If I lift all that, I’ll be dead. Being a ball of lightning sounds really good. And I’m sure I get enough protein through my food. Rhyming is hard while my nose is runny. Your first note was pretty funny. I don’t have a gym close by. So unfortunately, I’ll have to bid your workout goodbye. And thus I end this poem with regret, I don’t know if I can lift 5kg yet
Warning Comment
Right, that WAS a pretty silly rhyme. What I meant was, thank you so much for your advice. I can’t spot a gym nearby anywhere, and I don’t think I can lift weights presently or afford a gym in the first place. I’ll save it for later, though. Make sure you’re still in here when you’re old and wrinkly. I’ll need your workout routine then.
Warning Comment
Also, I very well can lift 5 kg. I’m pretty sure my school bag weighs well over 8kg. 😐 (That’s how torturous CBSE is.) Until then, I guess I’ll satisfy the need to weightlift by lifting, well, grocery bags. -.-‘

ryn; oh, don’t you worry about that. it’s not my wedding, it’s our wedding. i am well aware. 🙂
Warning Comment
‘You can’t outtrain a bad diet’ – that’s for sure! I am always telling people (who ask) that ‘abs are made in the kitchen.’ And then they go right back to their lemon juice cleanse or whatever this week’s trend is…*sigh* Clean eating + consistent exercise = never dieting ever again.
Warning Comment
Ryn: But I don’t want to cry. :/ Yeah, Uno rules. 😀 And wow, you actually got impressed with that lame ass poem? 😛
