Lake George.

I haven’t had an official vacation in years, so this was pretty much the closest thing I’ll get to a vacation this year. I randomly had two days off, so Candi and I planned a little romantic getaway. We went up to Lake George, NY, and got a room with a king-sized bed and a jacuzzi. Everything else seems superfluous to it being us, together. It really didn’t matter where we were.

I’d driven her car the night before in case I needed to drive her car. It was so weird driving an automatic. I remember putting the car in reverse, and the first thing I did was slam my left foot on the dead pedal. Granted, I drove the van for years, but I’ve never been the primary driver of a sedan. I’ve heard how once you drive stick, you can’t go back. I’ve been kind of embellishing that. I kept offering to drive on the trip up, and Candi repeatedly declined.

Candi thought the motel wasn’t as nice as the website. I pointed out, “Hey, give them credit for taking good pictures.” We’ve had commentary about websites that take shitty pictures of things that SHOULD look awesome. We went for a quick swim, then enjoyed the jacuzzi. I can’t remember the last time I’ve been in a jacuzzi. We had fun relaxing, washing each other. We tried sex in the jacuzzi, but it was difficult to pull off. Rough on my knees, hard to gain proper penetrative depth. Not to mention the whole lube-washing-away thing. Though, the sensation of being in water felt rather nice, especially as my balls splashed around.

For hanging out, we enjoyed the king-sized bed. But we later agreed that it’s .. too big. We were so far apart when we were sleeping, we weren’t even touching. That’s not cool.

We went to an Indian restaurant for dinner. More expensive than I’m used to, but the food was really good. Went to an arcade, ate some ice cream. I rarely eat ice cream, but something about being out and about, and being on vacation, just made it really appropriate. Went back to the room, popped Mean Girls in her laptop. Hey, I like the movie.

The continental breakfast in the morning wasn’t that good. I’ve been at a number of motels, and this food was average at best. It did for the moment, and that’s all that mattered. We enjoyed the jacuzzi a second time, because be damned if we weren’t going to pass up a jacuzzi.

Let’s see… I remember going mini-golfing. Little sunny. There was a group of six in front of us. Management didn’t seem to care. We didn’t understand how a mini-golfing place we went to on Tuesday, little place, told us to break our group of six into three and three. Ridiculous. A huge line formed behind us, so someone working there said we could start on hole 8. That worked alright. There was blue-colored water everywhere and it didn’t look right.

Ate at a restaurant on the lake. Candi was puzzled at how I thought it was bright out. Let’s see.. I remember feeling kind of tired somewhere in there. I forget. I remember arcading some more. She kicked my ass as air-hockey. Something like 7-0, then 7-1. She’d won every game the previous night, as well. It was hilarious, every time I’d score, she’d end up scoring immediately on her first shot. I recall our very last game, I did win. Something like 5-4. I seemed to do better left-handed, occasionally switching to my right hand for shots. Depends on the angle.

Candi has a weakness for crane games, even though some of them are clearly rigged. I started sucking ass at skeeball. Still fun, though.

Ate more ice cream, this time at a Ben and Jerry’s. Less ice cream than the local, small place. But quite tasty.

Uhhh. Headed back home. Stopped a local Target and Walmart in search of Jones soda. Erik has a case of them, and I have no idea where her parents got them. I’ve since gone to their website, and I can’t even find the variety pack he has. Mmm, pure sugar cane.

Stopped at a Roy Rogers on the way back. Because I haven’t been to one since I was a kid. They had the BEST chicken nuggets. I was so sad to discover that.. chicken nuggets don’t exist anymore? Pout. Waaaaaah. I got some “chicken tenders” anyway, and they were tasty. We later stopped at a rest area that had an Arbys. Candi wanted some sides. I don’t eat at Arbys enough, so I got a beef and cheddar. Seriously, what else is there to get at an Arbys other than their curly fries? Screw diversifying.

I felt completely unhealthy afterwards, but it was really quite tasty.

Speaking of which, I’m going to the gym after I post this. Heavy deadlifts are in order.

Tomorrow, we’re looking to make the final purchase on my new bed, probably from Bob’s Discount Furniture. (plug, plug) Then we’ll head to IKEA and see if we can find some better furniture. I need a TV stand and a small underwear dresser. There’s seriously no more room in my top drawer for all the socks and undies I have, on top of all the random things I have in there, as well as some of Candi’s clothes. I may even buy a new dresser, period. Getting a nice bedframe might be nice, but it’s not imminently necessary.

And next week, we’re totally going back to Dorney Park. Nobody can tell me I don’t know how to relax and have a good time.

Now if you’ll excuse me, the iron is calling me.

Tommy and I went to Lake George two years ago, in April. I got a nice motel that I spent $50/per night. We were the only ones in the ENTIRE motel, so they upgraded our room for free. It was probably the nicest place I’ve stayed at (besides Atlantic City)! They had some nice shops up there; we hit the outlets. And I also remember there being a Denny’s. I love their breakfast!!

I love Lake George. We did tours of all the NY vineyards and did wine tastings. It sounds like you had a good time.
