Lifting for 5-27-9
I took my resting heartrate last night when I was sitting here. 60 second count was 58 beats. Woo! 58 BPM! That means I reached my goal of having a resting heartrate under 60 BPM! That makes me happy. I used to have a resting heartrate around 70 BPM. This’ll help motivate me in the masochism is that is jogging.

This wasn’t so much easier than the first workout, as it was harder to load with a heavier weight. I simply couldn’t. I’m atrocious at front squatting. I even backed off to 10 reps, rather than 12, so I could hit the ten in the last set. I’ll work up to 12 eventually, then increase to 95 lbs. But not yet. Chins were hard following squats, but I wasn’t as taxed like I was yesterday after deadlifting. Step-ups were almost like cardio. I think I’ll be safe adding some dumbbells to it. The push presses were hard and heavy compared to everything else. I think I’ll back off to 30 lbs so I can hit the rep range for the last set. Got yelled at for “dropping the weight”. Heh. Hey, I let them come down to waist level before I let go. I’m freaking tired after all of that!
I had 95 lbs written down for back squat on Sunday. I got into the gym and scratched it off to 85 lbs before the set. Squatting, I realized it was too much. It felt light, but my legs simply don’t like endurance. Anything past five repetitions makes them revolt at me. Ugh. And for twenty? It feels light, I can grind out the reps, but towards the end, I felt like my lower back was fatiguing. Not to mention lactic acid burn. Not that hurty, I just felt it. Lat pulldown was way too light. I should have gone with my original impulse of 70 lbs. Will do that next workout. Step-ups felt like cardio, but I can’t add weight yet with it being 20 reps. Same with shoulder press – 20 lbs might be too much. I’ll repeat with 15 lbs.
Didn’t feel like death afterwards. Woo!
Thought I’d need a nap, but I feel great. Candi said she’d give me a massage when she came over. I think I’ll save my relaxing for then. Mmmm. Think I’ll play Sims now.
I just got Sims 2 (and by that I mean my roommate finally brought it up from her parents’) and am totally beyond addicted. I really think I might get Sims 3, either by actually paying the $50 (or by illegal ways, shhh).I might blame this at least partly on you. 😛

RYN: I agree, it is probably so we could be more well rounded individuals. Man, the squats I hated were the ones that had the bars rest on your shoulders and you are at an angle standing. Can’t remember what it was called–that could be brutal at times, especially if you didn’t do it right. I still hated the chest work outs–bench press…it always freaked me out.
