Lifting for 4-7-9

I honestly wasn’t feeling in the mood to go today. Hard to peg why. I went anyway, of course.

    Alternating Sets
    Plate Step-up: 3×12 @ 10 lbs
    Mixed Grip Lat Pull: 12, 12, 8 @ 130 lbs (+10 lbs)

    Alternating Sets
    BB Romanian Deadlift: 3×12 @ 125 lbs (+10 lbs)
Swiss Ball Lateral Roll: 3×12 @ BW

Metabolic Overdrive: 3 rounds on elliptical (1 minute hard, 2 minutes recovery)

Sometimes numbers get in your head. Doing high-rep deadlifts for 185 lbs is getting up there. I told myself I wouldn’t increase the weight, but of course I will anyway next workout when the rep range drops two and the rest periods drop 15 seconds. Masochistic, maybe, but I have to push myself. The heavier I lift, the more metabolic effect there will be. Even though my last set of inclines wasn’t 10, I think I’ll increase the weight anyway.

Immediately felt the weight increase in lat pulls. For this, I won’t be increasing the weight. I barely got the last repetition.

I let myself walk around the track once so my hearing would return to normal. I just remember the one time I tweaked myself was when I was so fatigued my hearing was wonky. Otherwise, RDLs felt just fine. I’ll increase the weight next workout, but I’ll continue to use smaller plates so I can get a larger range of motion. Annoying clanging on the ground when I can go deeper.

So glad I’ve found an elliptical that seems to fit me adequately. It’s not necessarily getting easier, but I’m learning how to pace myself. To find a high intensity that I can maintain, rather than going so hard that I literally can’t keep up with myself.

Four more workouts, then Fat Loss II. I’m simultaneously excited and wondering what the hell I’ve gotten myself into.

Ok I’ll reword that. I’m nuts. That’s it. I really know soreness doesn’t mean all that much. I just like feeling sore. I don’t chase it or strive for soreness, lol.

What is the purpose of the metabolic overdrive?
