Triumph.

I printed my paper and gave my presentation.

I DID IT! I DID IT! I DID IIITTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ONE!!!!!

I AM AWESOME.

It’s funny. I prepared by writing notes on a second copy of my paper, and on a copy of my powerpoint slides. I don’t think I used them. Or, rather, the one or two times I tried to use them. I ended up fumbling over my papers when I tried to use a quote. I really just went right off the powerpoint as I practiced. That is, I had a few key bullets per slide, and I went over each point. Simple. Easy to follow, and easy for me to present.

I got a little nervous when hands went up after my presentation. You know, making an ass out of myself. But, no, WILL FOCUS ON POSITIVE. PAPER IS DONE. PRESENTATION IS DONE.

A year’s worth of stress is finally relieved. A YEAR. I’ve been waiting since last year to make up for the mistake I made. I knew all I would have to do is get over the hump, get that paper done, and endure a half hour to standing in front of a room while sweating heavily and trying to project my voice. I feel vindicated.

Oh, what was it on? Exercise during pregnancy. Some take-home messages. Any woman with an uncomplicated pregnancy can and should exercise. A sedentary woman looking to do something can do as little as brisk walking for 20-30 minutes most days of the week. Active women can pretty much beat the shit out of themselves so long as they EAT SUFFICIENTLY to make up the caloric expenditure. Pregnant women should exercise within their limits, recognize fatigue, and NEVER exercise to exhaustion.

Any more than that, and I’ll just make you read my damn paper.

I totally didn’t have time to eat before class. MMM, CHILI.

Candi is here and I’m still feeling bouncy. But first, I REQUIRE MORE MILK.

Congrats on getting it done, sounds like it was a success.

that sounds like a really interesting topic, actually. i’ve always heard conservative opinions about how women shouldn’t exercise, but then again, people used to think that women shouldn’t run marathons because their uteruses might fall out.

woohoo!

Oh gosh, I COMPLETELY agree with you about exercise during pregnancy. If and when I do get pregnant someday, I full intend to run until my doctor tells me I can’t. I know I won’t be able to do any half-marathons, but I’m definitely going to put myself out there. I’m glad it all went well and you can put it behind you. Well done!

I used to walk miles while pregnant, even at the very end. Non-pregnant people had trouble keeping up with me.

RYNRMN: Yeah, but in order to actually improve your speed, you have to do speedwork. Which means pushing past your comfort level for a certain period of time. I have a really hard time with that. Though I have been consistent with gaining speed over the last few years. I have run the same 5k course race every summer for the last three years. My initial time was 41:30. The year after that was 37:30. And then last year I got all the way down to 32:29. I’m not sure if I can beat last year’s time, but you’d better believe I’m going to try! 🙂

YAY!! So glad you did it!
