I thought I’d do a little better handling 55 lbs, after hitting 50 lbs for full sets. But it just felt too heavy! I could only manage two reps. So I put them away and got the 50’s for the other four sets.

Shoulder presses rebounded fantastically. Challenging as always, but it didn’t feel like I was struggling as much. Had to switch where I was doing wide-grip pull-ups midway through. I can’t do them on the wide-grip grip that’s around – I find they’re TOO wide grip and I can’t do a single one. I’m not long and lanky! (Except for my penis.)

There was a guy squatting in the squat cage. Shocking, I know. Though, I prefer squatting in one of the two squat racks, as opposed to the cage. Since he waited for me to finish one of my sets of shoulder presses before grabbing the bar and putting it in the cage, I gave him some advice. I noticed his stance was really narrow and he was having problems getting depth. I told him to widen his stance a little. I asked if he could get down in a bodyweight squat. He could – but his heels came up. That’s mostly a flexibility thing. But the practice advice I gave was that by widening your stance, your end up “between” your legs, whereas with the narrow stance, you end up “behind” your legs. Flexibility takes time, but I still prefer a stance somewhere between narrow and sumo. I just go by how it feels. Sometimes it’s more narrow than others. I just know if I was squatting with the stance he was, I wouldn’t get any depth.

He said he’s seen me there every time he’s there, so I must know what I’m talking about. Ha ha. Woo!

Triceps are clearly my limiting factor on close-grips. I get 3/4 the way up, and then I almost come to a sudden stop and have to really exert myself to lock out.

With this being the last day of this particular day, I’d say I did rather well. I wasn’t expecting to incline 50 lbs, for sure. Makes me feel good.

On an unrelated note, my dad’s interested in purchasing an iPod. He reiterated “iPod” so much that I reminded him that iPod is a registered trademark of Apple. My instincts say this will be yet another toy that he will love and quickly lose interest in, just like the sandwich machine, and a digital camera. Sandwich machine is still around in the kitchen, but it never gets used. And my dad did buy a digital camera. He thought,

“I’ll take pictures and print them!”

Yes, our printer is good enough to do that. But my dad doesn’t understand that you don’t print pictures, most of the time. There’s no point. It’s inefficient. If you want to look at them, you look at them on the computer, and they’re usually a higher resolution. Sure beats boxes and boxes of pictures, sorting for that one you want. I do believe he returned it.

I asked him how he intends to put music on it. He said,

“Oh, I’ll go down to the Apple store, and they’ll load it up for me!”

Cue my facepalm.

I told him to get some mp3’s on his computer and maybe I’ll take him seriously. I mean, come on. I have 25 gigs of music. Before my headphones broke, I listened to music on my computer all the time. (Now I just use my stereo.)

My dad never takes me seriously. But I suppose that’s an understatement. We’ll see how long this phase lasts. He’s like a small child.

If anybody’s wondering why I don’t own a portable music device nor a cell phone, it’s because I like being unplugged. Overexposure to music makes me get sick of it. And I’m online so constantly, you’re better off IMing me or emailing me. Seriously. Everybody knows I’m signed on 24/7, and I check my email obsessively. Phone? Ha! I remember joking to Carolyn how a cell phone would be a reminder that I have no friends. I think I’ve perplexed Victoria as to how my friends and I operate without calling each other. We just show up at each other’s houses or place of employment. Ha ha.

On an unrelated note, as much as I’m supposed to hate Microsoft, something about Apple’s marketing strategy really bothers me. Just an instinct, I can’t place it.

Holy shit, where did the time go? And I got out the door on time this morning. I require a short nap, and then I must depart for employment.
