The Red Bra.

So a girl came in today wearing a white shirt and a red bra. How do I know she was wearing a red bra? A sliver peaking or a bra-strap showing? Nah, you could see through her white shirt.

Isn’t that some sort of fashion mistake? I mean, isn’t there a rule not to wear dark bras with white shirts, as it allows anybody to see your bra? Beats me who makes these rules. The very existence of bras, while supposedly for modesty, does more to emphasis breast.

Not that I’m terribly offended. For one, red is my favorite color. Second, what a lady wears is her own perogative. Maybe she thought it was a very nice bra, and wanted to world to know. Maybe she was just lazy dressing. Third, of course, I like breasts. It’s completely okay with me if girls want to emphasis their breasts. Yes. Completely. Go ahead!

Of course, it wasn’t my place to inquire. As a male, a benign “Forgive me, madam, but I fear your upper body garment is not opaque enough to conceal your red-colored brassiere.” can easily sound like “HI, I LIKE UR BOOBS, THANKS FOR THE SHOW.”

Okay, I’m done. There’s my amusing thought of the day. I reckon I’m tired, and sleep is imperative within the hour.

I think I may not have made myself clear, so I apologize. I think you’re buffer now, not that you think you’re buffer. 🙂 Over the years I have seen some serious changes to your body, and all for the better.

Saw you on the front page.. I know that when I wear red bras, my shirt is usually too thin and I don’t notice it at my apartment, and I get the pleasure of realizing that you can see everything later that day, while under the harsh florescent lights at my graduate office. My point being: it’s not always intentional =)

ryn: eh, I don’t have kids so it’s not like they’re being used for anything other than decoration! I can’t get mad at anyone for taking a peek.

rules are meant to be broken. She wore that knowing that someone would notice, It’s a signal that gets the attention of similar minded folks.

September 22, 2007

hahahahaha.

September 22, 2007

Major fashion mistake. Tacky and tasteless.

September 22, 2007

I thought every woman knew not to wear dark bras with light-colored shirts? Even if she thought her shirt was somehow opaque enough, she should have at least looked at herself in a well-lit mirror before leaving the house.

September 22, 2007

RYN: If there is a question about bra-shirt issues, yes, a woman should check before she leaves the house. And a red bra with a white shirt certainly is a bra-shirt issue.

Eh, I like to wear black bras and red bras under light colored shirts. I’m not into fashion though and I am too old too care if others think it’s tacky, haha

I get the feeling it’s usually intentional.

Might be a trend? I’ve seen numerous gals here in France with see thru shirts and intentionally dark or colorful bras. Not something I’d do, but whatevs.

PS I own not one but TWO red bras. ;0

a lot more women are doing that, i guess more for attention than anything else, but bra’s are a necessity, gravitation is a girls worst enemy.

i see nothing wrong with it. it’s certainly more modest than what people tend to wear around here. power to her.

I love red. I have a weird obsession with bras and undies…they have to match what I am wearing…even if no one sees.

haha she probably knew you could see through it and was drawing attn to herself. as long as you didn’t stare, i’m sure she didn’t think you were a perv.

September 23, 2007

I think it’s a new thing. Kinda like how they’re wearing halter tops with bras that tie around the neck with bras that have straps. *shrug* Not my thing though.

September 23, 2007

I’m the same way as MandarinLipgloss. Chances are, if you’re wearing a white shirt and a red bra, you’re completely aware that it’s see-through.

September 23, 2007

lol. I didn’t know there were rules to bra wearing. *shrugs* as long as I’m comfortable, I could care less. Bras are the worst invention as far as I’m concerned. I like being free.

September 23, 2007

::laughs:: People do seem to enjoy showing their bras off lately. It disturbs me when I can tell what brand it is by what I can see through a shirt…

September 23, 2007

I don’t believe it is still a fashion faux pa to wear something that shows your bra. It seems to be a fashion statement these days.

September 23, 2007

On another note, I’ve finally accepted the fact that there are some articles of clothing will show my bra straps, and that is not, in fact, immediate cause for social rejection. I can’t imagine working my way up the slut scale any further than that, though.

ryn: not a big fan of Mexican

you know, truthfully it’s very hard to conceal your undergarments with a white top. lots of clothing company are making womens clothing much thinner, probably so women will have to layer, buy more clothes. you know, even wearing a white bra is visible beneath a white top. you have to wear a nuetral colored bra, tan, beige, whatever is closest to your skin tone.

September 23, 2007

i purposely wear dark bras with white shirts.

September 24, 2007

RYN: Thank you very much!

kind of random…but do you have an okcupid profile? i think i just saw your picture in the “virgin or not” game….lol

September 24, 2007

my take on it is.. what fun is a fun-colored brassiere if nobody is going to see it? i’ve been known to wear my black bra or my pink/orange/black striped bra with white t-shirts. and not just any white t-shirts either; the sort of white t-shirts that are designed to be men’s undershirts. so of course they aren’t opaque.

September 24, 2007

oh and actually, now that i think of it, in recent runway shows, there have been garments that actually intentionally expose part or all of the bra as part of the fashion statement. it’s totally in this season 😛

September 25, 2007

It is kind of fashion faux-pas. It can look a little… cheesy?
