Daily Recap for 3-5-7

I’ve had a tinge of butterflies all day in anticipation of tomorrow. Well, at least I have something to look forward to, amidst all the exams and studying. I’ve gotten comments that I’m “training for something”. Not really. I just set goals and try to achieve them. More people should do it. I’m coming to the end of a four week cycle of training. It’s handy to change your workout every 4-6 weeks, or so the dogma goes. So that’s what I’m going to do. And since I’ve been doing heavy deadlifts for the first time in ages, I’m going to take the subsequent week off.

(And as should be painfully obvious, the primary goal is to deadlift 315 lbs. But for now, I have minigoals. I’m the scrawniest powerlifter in the world!)

The A&P II lab exam went really well. I had a hunch that I would need to know names of arteries and veins. He said anything he went over in lab was fair game. That was something he went over in class, even writing it out on the board. He gave us a diagram of arteries and veins of the cat. He handed us back a corrected version of this one homework we had to do, which was all the major arteries and veins of the body. Everything else we covered in lab, I pretty much had a handle on. So I studied just that. Between the cat diagram, the corrected homework, and the lab book’s flow-chart, I constructed my own diagram of blood-flow through the arteries and veins. He didn’t cover limbs in lab, so I didn’t study it. Moreover, the radial artery and the ulnar arteries are painfully easy to identify. Seriously.

I’d say I did well on everything I knew. (Isn’t that always the case?) There was one gross diagram of the heart that I couldn’t fully recognize. I couldn’t remember the names of things. *shrugs* I remember staring at a picture of blood before I realized, “Dude. …It’s blood. That’s red blood cells, that’s white blood cells.” There was a third arrow, pointing to something that was “not a cell”. I couldn’t think of what it was, so I humorously wrote down “jelly smudge!”

I figure grading tests can NOT be all that fun. He has an odd sense of humor, so he better get a kick out of it. I also put a : ( for one other question I didn’t know. I’m sorry I didn’t know the answer, prof!

I was eating in the café when Tara passed by. I have to say, she’s good company. Anybody that can hang with my sense of humor, and can make me laugh is good company. I used my “I could never be a pedophile, I like pubic hair. So those chicks have to be at least ten years old!” joke, and she both laughed and wasn’t scared. If you can laugh at a pedophile joke, damn, you’re awesome. I should try dead baby jokes next time. …Though, I honestly don’t have any stock ones. Anybody have any stock dead baby jokes?

We’d been chatting for a while when this guy sat down. Clearly they knew each other. My read was that he was into her to some degree, but she either wasn’t interested or was completely oblivious. I know how completely dumb chicks can be to reading things sometimes, so I mentioned this to her when he went to go pee. She said she knows, but she doesn’t know what to do about it. She said she’s hoping if she just ignores him, he’ll go away.

HA HA HA. She underestimates how stubborn people can be!

I figured I’d socialize and then hit the library. I have a rule of always putting off other obligations in the name of spontaneous socialization, since I get the opportunties so infrequently. Okay, if I really need to study, I will, but more often than not, there’s always extra time. Anyway, Tara said she was going to her car. The boy (I never caught his name) said he’d go with her. I went with them to act as a buffer – she later thanked me for this action. My instincts are good, what can I say?

So. Studying. I had a singular goal in terms of studying for the kinesiology test on Wednesday. I wanted to have a notecard which had a muscle and its actions, then another stack with an action and all the muscles that do that action. If I can do all these notecards forwards and backwards, I know everything there is to know. Period.

Two or three hours later, I had a thick stack of notecards in front of me. I didn’t even look over them, I just wanted to get it DONE. Hell, the sheer act of writing all that shit out, and organizing it, is a form of studying, no?

OH.

It snowed today. It was SO beautiful. Big, thick flakes. I almost wanted to start dancing. I hummed “I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas” to myself. You know the beat. It amused me to hum that, as it’s MARCH. To think it rained last week. Oh. The quote of the day that I never got around to posting.

“It’s snowing! NO SCHOOL!”

“..Dude, we’re in school.”

Dumbasses.

Time to scuttlebug my bum to bed soon. :: emits Aura ::
