I was expecting some sort of post-thanksgiving rush. Nope. Just the usual people around.
I think I annoyed a guy my first set because he wanted to use the incline bench. What, haven’t you seen somebody superset before? I’ve seen him around the gym, and he can handle himself. He’s usually in with somebody else doing deadlifts. My three sets went fast, of course. I’m kind of surprised at my progress, I was expecting to struggle more. So THIS is low-rep training.
Rows are feeling… easier. Huh. Fancy that. I matched my previous press effort. I’m not sure what happened. I tried for nine for the second set, but couldn’t do it. I struggled for that eight rep on the third set, refusing to cede.
Flies still feel weird. I feel a slight tweak in my left shoulder, which comes and goes. Maybe my form was a little different, but I didn’t feel like I could do more than twelve. So I didn’t. No biggie. I always feel a tweak in both my shoulder when I do reverse flies. But only if I’m above parallel at all. If I pretty much hug my knees, it feels fine.
Reverse Crunches were hard. Left a red mark on the inside of my calves, as I had to clamp my legs tight to keep the dumbbell in place. It didn’t burn so much, but I definitely wasn’t getting my legs back up so fast. And I found my wall for woodchoppers. Right from the first rep, I knew I wouldn’t last that long. I struggled to hit the minimum reps. Oh boy.
Forgot to do my Victory Pull-ups. No biggie, they’re an extra I do to affirm that I still have pull-up ability. ..I could do them tomorrow? Nah.
Weight dropped to where I thought it would. I knew the rise to 157.8 was an anomaly. Still, I’ll keep eating and hopefully maintain around 157 by the end of Phase IV. Two pounds per month. Four pounds a month felt like overeating, two pounds will be more reasonable and avoid undereating.
Adjustments: Finish off the inclines so I can increase the weight to 115. I sure as hell didn’t expect to be inclining 115 for reps this phase. May surprise myself again with rows, may not. Try to nail that second set for presses, I don’t want to stall. See if I can reverse crunch for 15 reps without dying. Bump woodchoppers to 12 reps.
