I don’t do curls.
This is just me talking to myself. So don’t mind me.
I’m currently on a leg-emphasis streak. I’m trying to drive up all my leg lifts to give me the best chance at increasing overall mass. Obviously I’m still utilizing a full-body routine, slowly increasing reps and weights as I go. But I haven’t maxed out my leg lifts. I hit 185 for Romanian Deadlifts, and finish it in complete sets. Still complete sets. I haven’t hit failure yet. I want to see how high I can take that. I’d be a fool to just pile on as much weight as possible. By moving incrementally, albeit linearly, my body gets used to handling more and more weight, even if it could have handled more weight. Like when I started, deadlifting 135 lbs is still 135 lbs that my body had never dealt with before.
Next phase, I want to work on my shoulders. Well. It’s a general idea. I’ll get my vertical push from a Hang Clean and Press. To hit my traps, I’ll do jump shrugs, which look like this. Naturally, that’s more or less a deadlift which a shrug at the end of the rep. Yes. Actually deadlifts. That will be good for me. After all, if I can romanian deadlift it, I can certainly regular deadlift it.
A lot of thinking goes into my routines, don’t think I pull them out of mid-air.
I’ll round out the rest of the program to complement the primary lifts. I’ll continue my 20 rep squat program for six weeks. Why six? Supposely after six, you run the risk of burnout. Gotta wait another six weeks before you can do it again. Reasonable enough. I may just stop doing parallel squats altogether, and let my 20 rep squats bring up my ATG squat weight.
I’ll probably end my current program around early-mid June. Should be when I feel I’ve gotten the most out of my romanian deadlifts. Then I’ll run my next for maybe four-six weeks, depending. Then…
Let’s face it: I ignore my arms. On purpose, really. Muscles grow in proportion. Solution: Emphasis on bent-over row and pull-ups. No, seriously. That’s my plan. And dips. I need to do dips. If a scrawny asian man can go up to the dip bar, put 45 lbs on the belt, and go through barely any range of motion, then goddamn it, I’M ALLOWED TO GO THROUGH WHATEVER RANGE OF MOTION I CAN DO.
*smiles* We’ll see. My arms have gotten stronger, just not bigger in any substantial manner. I’ll think of something, or run across something which will inspire me. The best routines are the ones you write yourself.
I’ll get a job. But first I’m going to change my major. I’ll do that tomorrow. Tomorrow morning is another day. Once that course is set, I’ll feel better about myself.
