Physicality and Sexuality.

Having since separated “love” and “sex”, I’d like to take it a bit further and point out the difference between physicalness and sexualness. Physical affection is not necessarily sexual affection. And in some quarters, sexual affection is not necessarily physical. Go figure. Previous philosophies of intimacy centered around fulfilling mind, body, and spiritual needs. I’d like to think of a continuum between emotional intimacy, physical intimacy, and sexual intimacy. I call it “emotional intimacy”, but I’m not sure what else to call it. It’s one thing to feel comfortable physically and sexually, but it’s another altogether to sit down and have a conversation that prodes the depths of your psyche.

Nothing earth-shattering or surprising, just making a mental distinction. Having long since recognized my need for physical affection (and my tendency to give physical affection), it’s a critical reminder that physical affection doesn’t imply sexual affection.

Re DITL: You would look so snuggleable in that last pic if you didn;t have major redeye. 😛 I wish I could aim my camera that good at myself. I have to take twenty pictures of the wall or my shoulder before I get one of my face…and i’m always making a goofy expression. I can never smile naturally for pictures.
