Exerbabble for 3-14-6
Yes, it’s been two days already. Today’s workout:
Squat: 3×6 @ 155 lbs (warmup 6 @ 95 lbs)
Deadlift: 3×6 @ 115 lbs
Shrug: 3×10 @ 115 lbs
Shoulder Press: 4×7 @ 65 lbs
Pull-up: 3×6 + 3
Standing Calf Raise: 10 @ 140; 2×10 @ 200 lbs
Back Row: 7, 7, 6, 6 @ 50 lbs
Decline Sit-ups: 3×10 @ 10 lbs
Bench Press: 3×8 @ 85 lbs
At someone’s advice, I decided to do a warm-up set for squats. I gotta say, 95 pounds is fucking light. So light I went down to the floor, nearly hitting the safety rack. Then came back up. Watched my knees, kept my ass out. Like I said. 95 pounds is fucking light.
I don’t normally go down that low. I can “feel” it, as I’m sure everybody else can. When I loaded 155 lbs on my back, I went as low as I normally go. Just above parallel. Not worrying about my knees, that’s just where I feel the weakest. I still get damn good depth compared to most people.
I think I figured out how my deadlift form is wrong. I’ve been paranoid about my back, so I think I’ve been too tight with my back. Once I loosened a little bit, making the curve not so bad, I felt the pressure come off my lower back. Go figure. I’ll keep at it.
I put off calf raises, because it eats a lot of energy to hold a bar on your back and focus on calf raises. That is what causes me to break a sweat. I did not break a sweat today.
I would have done more pull-ups, but I was distracted. I’ll hit 4×6 next time.
Finally hit 4×7 for my shoulder press. Woo. I think I’ll stick with that next workout. Maybe aim for 4×8 before increasing weight.
I squeaked out 3×8 on the bench press. I pushed myself for the 8th rep on the third set. May increase to 3×9 before increasing weight. Hey, if I can get a pattern down, maybe I can predict weight increases. Plus, 85 pounds is easy to put on the bar.
Stretched my groin again afterwards. Wooo.
Today is DITL day. *points to his camera*
